WISDOM FOR THE YEAR – MANAGE YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT
MANAGE YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT
Wherever there is genuine love, disappointment is minimal, for love covers multitude of sins. However, all men does not have genuine love of Christ and whatsoever that can hinder your peace, bring disappointment must be planned against before it happen. Whatever you can do for free should not give you concern, but anything you can do at a fee or money is involved, you must prepare for, to avoid disappointment. Paul said, “Now all these things happened unto them as examples: and they are written for our admonition, as warnings for us. We live in the time that all those past histories were pointing to. So anyone who thinks they are standing strong should be careful that they do not fall – 1 Corinthians 10:11-12. You have been warned today, to not fall into disappointment at anytime in the year.
Jacob signed up as an employee in Laban’s business, because he trusted Laban so much and due to lack of knowledge on his part, he wasted his shining years in Laban’s house and would have left Padanaram after twenty years with nothing, if not for God’s intervention (Genesis 31). Paul said, this was written as an example lest you fall into it again. Ten times Laban changed Jacob wages and foolishly Jacob was still serving him. Verbal agreement is never an agreement, even the one written can be denied; but if properly documented it will ease your burden and keep the other partners in check. A friend today may become an enemy tomorrow, therefore guide your feet from destruction. Anything that you are doing, as long as it is outside of you, let it be in black and white. If you buy anything in the market or from anybody, get receipt for it.
Who knew Ahithophel would go against David? Who knew Absalom, David’s son for that matter would want to overthrown his father? – 2 Samuel 15. Ahithophel was one of David's advisers, a counsellor who became a conspirator; his counsel the Bible says was like the word of God (2 Samuel 16:23). Imagine someone like Ahithophel decamped from David and the king knew he was in big trouble, David had to pray, if not, the conspiracy would have materialized. Yesterday, Ahithophel was with David, later he was an enemy to be prayed against. Paul said, this also is written as a warning for you.
To avoid disappointment, first check the character of your partner. If you want to go into any business with whosoever, have a written agreement signed, witnessed and documented – Amos 3:3. Get enough information about any business you want to venture into. Never enter into any business as a novice. Before you enter into any agreement, business or project; let God lead you. Do not base everything on experience, because men changes, you can never predict anyone. Young lady, don’t be fool to the extent you enter into marriage without your bride price been paid or having no marriage registry certificate. You are not in marriage if your relationship with that (wo)man is without proper documentation, you are in bondage. Finally, what you wish others to do for you, you too learn. Jacob had to learn shepherding, if not, Laban would have turned him into empty barrel.
