And They Remember His Words (Part 2)

TEXT: LUKE 24:1-12
MEMORY VERSE: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12

After the death of Jesus, the disciples especially women were busy preparing on how to take care of His body; they had prepared spices to go and decorate His body but due to the fact the next day was a Sabbath, they had to observe this day and very early on Sunday morning went to the sepulchre. Lo and behold, the stone to the sepulchre had been rolled away and the body of Jesus was not found. It took the Angel to remind them of all the words of Christ and what had actually happened.

The Word of God cannot be held by the grave, the Word carries life and he is alive and life himself. Those women were busy looking for the body of Jesus, so they went to His graveyard thinking to find His body forgetting that it was the Word that became flesh (body), the grave could no more hold Him. Believers today profess to love Jesus but His word is not in their hearts. There is need for all genuine believers who want to prosper in the world and the word to come, to go back to study the Word and act the word. What makes us to be believer is our belief in the Word of God, which is the person of God.

Believers today share the same attitudes with the first disciples, we do not understand the Word of God, and we have placed events and activities above the Word of God, many Christians today will remember their church activities but hardly can they quote a single scripture. This is sad. None of Jesus’ disciples could discern the event of the time, because Jesus had been crucified, they never known what to do. What is the first thing you do when challenges confront you? What is your reaction to situation? Your reaction to situation shows where your heart lies. Do you run to the Word of God to find out what you are actually going through? Do you at any time remember the Word?

It Is the one that is familiar with the Word of God that we remember His word when unexpected situation arises. The disciples totally forgotten the Word of God, it took the Angel of God to remind them. They never understood that everything that Jesus did was in fulfilment of the Word of God. In Hebrews 10:7, He said, I come in the volume of Book written of Me. He came to the world to fulfil the Word. He is the Word Himself, John the Apostle wrote, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” – John 1:1.

AT this time, the disciples were in total disarray, perplexed and fear dominated their hearts, even when the Angel of God reminded them of the fulfilment of prophecy by the resurrection of Jesus, Peter and the rest did not believe. The Bible says, “And their (the Angels) words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. For the Word of God to prosper you, you must take time to study Him and believe in Him.

Many in the church are suffering today not because they do not know how to pray but because they do not know the Word. The Battle of the world is the battle of the Word. Let us go back to our Bible, which is the written Word of God, many are waiting until when an Angel appear to them and give them instruction before they act on the Word of God. If you do not believe in the one written, even when you see an Angel you will never recognized. Have a change of attitudes to the Word of God. What is it that you value? I urge you to place high premium on the Word of God, then thou shall prosper and above all be in good health.

“The battle of the World is the battle of the Word.”
