WHAT TO PLAN FOR IN THE NEW YEAR (1)

TOPIC: WHAT TO PLAN FOR IN THE NEW YEAR (1)
TEXT: PROVERBS 16:1-9

You can clean your slate and begin afresh in life, the Psalmist asked, “If the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do”. The righteous will go back to the foundation, check the plan again to know where the problem is. In reality, our year does not begin on the first day of the New Year; our year actually begins every day. If you live every day of your life as a New Year day, you will definitely experience unprecedented results and have no room for laziness. There are some things to plan your life with and for if you indeed want to become your best in the New Year:

1) Put God in your plan. Your relationship with God matters a lot; plan to know God more in the New Year. Begin the journey with God and have a solid plan to serve Him, amend your ways and become His. You cannot continue to join others to say no one is perfect or that the Bible says our righteousness is like a filthy rag and expect God to bless your efforts. Even if our righteousness is like a filthy rag, get the rag. It is better to enter into the Kingdom with a tattered cloth than to enter His presence naked. You must make a conscious effort to be a child of God. Take your love for God a little higher and better in the New Year, increase your passion and support for the things of God. Be spiritually minded, this is the beginning of every achievement. Give your life to Christ (if you are yet to); be born again; for Christ can come at any point in time. If you want your plan to become reality in the New Year, factor God in – Isaiah 55:8,9; Proverbs 19:21; 16:1,9; 3:6; Psalm 127:1.

2) Plan for self-development and improvement. Believing in God is one thing, having confidence in yourself is another. Nothing gives confidence like knowledge. Being a Christian does not rule out self-improvement and developing capacity, let it be in your plan for the New Year to add knowledge, get skilled and/or go for professionalism in your field. Ensure you feel any vacant spot in your development ladder, education and career. It is important to attend life-changing, impactful seminars; professional development course and subscribe to online courses, especially the ones that will add value to you and help you to key-in into future opportunities. Apostle Paul admonished Timothy and he’s talking to you today, “To study and show yourself approved”. What is the total number of books you read this year? Read more in the New Year, read local and international journal; read news and engage in discussions around national, personal and professional issues (2 Timothy 2:15; 4:13; Proverbs 24:27; Luke 4:17-20). As you plan to be of God in the New Year, may God bring His plan in your life, experience early satisfaction in the New Year.

Word Affirmation: “O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days." - Psalm 90:14 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“You cannot continue to join others to say no one is perfect or that the Bible says our righteousness is like a filthy rag and expect God to bless your efforts."
