WHAT TO PLAN FOR IN THE NEW YEAR (2)
TOPIC: WHAT TO PLAN FOR IN THE NEW YEAR (2)
TEXT: PSALM 37:1-9
In addition to planning for God and for self-improvement in the New Year, you must plan for your health and finances too. As you are waiting for miracles and manna to fall, remember, you are the miracles and manna to some people. Some people will not be blessed until you are blessed, there will be no progress for quite a number of people, if you are stagnated in life. To achieve all of these, you must place high premium on your health; know when to eat, sleep and what to eat and do. Here is why it’s so important to plan for your health and finances in the New Year:
Plan for your health – Health is wealth. Indeed, Christ wishes all His disciples above every other thing to be in health (3 John 2). Though by His stripes we are healed, but we don’t have to be sick before we enjoy health. If God has blessed you with the grace of living in good, perfect and sound health, appreciate Him and manage it well. Paul said, bodily exercise, profited little, grab the little by exercising to put your body in good shape. Laughter is a good medicine; laugh and smile over things too, do not be too serious that you cannot even play with your children. Eat right and eat good food even if it has to be once in a day. If you are asked to stop drinking soda, stop; and eat fruits instead. Invest wisely in your health. You don’t have to eat everything before you look good. Plan to reduce weight if you are too fat, do check up occasionally. Remember, it takes someone in good health to fast, to praise God, to go to church and make a living. If you live carelessly, it doesn’t cost God anything to give His beloved a permanent sleeping dose, then such can have a permanent rest till eternity. Rest when it is necessary; do not play down on your health (See Proverbs 17:22; 4:22; 16:24; Psalm 43:5; Jeremiah 30:17).
Plan your finance – what kills visions and dreams most is not lack of skill, but lack of finance. You can have beautiful goals, ideas and visions without money, it will remain a dream. The lockdown experience should be a lesson to you; with what you have in your bank account, how many days can you lives without working? If pressure comes on your finance today, how long can you live. Sit down and see a way of improving your life financially, if it’s to look out for a job on part-time or you volunteer with opportunities, please do. Heaven would not fall if you as a graduate works as a cleaner; make it your beginning and plan your way out of it. You can likewise change location either to another city or abroad, it is by choice. When it comes to your finance in the New Year, you must know what to do before you enter the year. Poverty will leave your life by finding something legal to do, you have something and there is something you can do that people will pay you for. What are the things that you can do for free? And what are the things that you can do at a fee? Write them and pray to God for help. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might”. First Thessalonians 4:11 advise, “And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you.”
Word Affirmation: “I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." – 3 John 2 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“It takes someone in good health to fast, to praise God, to go to church and make a living."
