PASSION AND COMPASSION (1)

PASSION AND COMPASSION (1)

People often use the word, ‘passion’ without really know its original meaning. Most people refer to passion as strong emotions reflecting an intense desire or boundless enthusiasm, but in actual sense passion originally meant, “Willingness to suffer for what you love”. Passion should be used to describe an activity, goal or cause that one cares about so much that such is willing to suffer for it. Understanding the meaning of passion will makes it easier to differentiate whether something is truly your passion or simply an interest. If you want to make great impact in life, do follow your passion and let no man talk you out of it. You must focus your energy and strength on the most important activities, doing what you love is very hard work yet rewarding at the same time. When you pursue your passion, you will not only like where you end up but enjoy the journey along the way.

The Gospel account of Jesus in John Chapter 11 is all about combination of passion and compassion of Jesus, two things that will surely yield results are the love for God and His works, and God’s compassion (which is new and renew every morning). Jesus knew about Lazarus illness yet He stood behind and told His disciples the sickness is not unto death. And the Bible says, “Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus” - John 11:5; if indeed Jesus loved this family, how come He did not arrive so early to rescue Lazarus until his death? Why did He fail to honour the invitation of His friends and disciples so early? And it was this Mary that broke Alabaster Box and anointed Jesus, in which Jesus Himself said, anywhere that this Gospel is preached, the name of Mary would be mentioned. But when she needed Jesus the most, He was nowhere to be found. Martha was also the one that was busy in the kitchen for Jesus when the later came visiting. But Jesus did not show up until Lazarus died, this love is so complicated that these disciples couldn’t believe.

In all situations, Christ will do the will of Him that sent Him and His love for His people has no bound, when we are yet in sins, He died for us. He stood behind because He wanted to show His great love for Lazarus yet Lazarus was sick unto death. Don’t you think most times too that God is late to answer your prayers, though you were told God is nigh yet it seems the more you move closer to Him the more He’s far away from you. The good news is, God is aware about your situation; He is passionate about you and will renew His love every morning so that your life can give and be to the glory of His. He might not show up when you are sick, because man may recover from sickness without the help of God; but He will come to your rescue and deliverance when your situation looks hopeless to proof to the world He is in charge. Giving birth after one year of marriage may not attract praises and gratitude from the people but it will when you deliver a triplet after ten years or so marriage. God always come with His compassion to fulfill His passion in the life of His people .

Word Affirmation: “It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." - Lam 3:22 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“God always come with His compassion to fulfill His passion in the life of His people."
