PASSION AND COMPASSION (2)

PASSION AND COMPASSION (2)

Jesus’ passion is to give life in abundance, to preach good tidings unto the meek; to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. But He did not allow His mission to override His emotion, He fulfilled His mission by showing compassion, care and love to the people (John 10:10; Isaiah 61:1-3; Luke 4:18-19).

But why did Jesus weep when He knew He would bring back Lazarus to life? He delayed His mission to visit Martha and Mary; He did not go when He was told about Lazarus sickness. The truth is, if any wo(man) want to succeed in life and ministry, such must make the people his/her core value. It is impossible to prosper if you neglect the need of the people or look down on men and women God sent across your way. Jesus will never look down on people; His mission was and is all about the people. What is your vision? If your vision is not solving people’s problem(s), do not expect to prosper or gain profit.

You cannot have a business and you will not value people, it is not your marketing skill that will sell your goods or services; it is your relationship with the people. If you love and show kindness to people, feel their pains, create relationship with your customers, greet them properly, ask after them, you will sell more than those who only believe they sell because they have shops at strategic locations. For Jesus at Lazarus’ graveyard, He cried because people around Him, who came to sympathize with Mary and Martha, wept. He attached great importance to relationship; He showed His passion through the spirit of compassion. The Bible says, “When Jesus therefore saw her (Mary) weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled” – John 11:33. HE wept (John 11:35). Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! Jesus had not yet raised Lazarus up from the dead; people had begun to commend Him because He sympathized with the family. Jesus’ Ministry though short was glorious and impactful because He made people the centre of His Mission. If you look critically, everybody’s mission is to the people; so how are you treating people around? There lies your prosperity and profit.

Word Affirmation: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me." - Luke 4:18 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
