TOPIC: COMMON BIBLE QUESTIONS (1)
TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 3:10-17
Here are some important questions that a lot of readers have asked. We have done our best to answer these questions scripturally. The best source for answers is the Word of God. I urge you to check the answers within your Bible and reach your own conclusions.
How do we know how to live in the midst of the world while not being a part of the same worldly system?
The Bible is complete (John 16:13; Acts 20:20, 27; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:3). It tells us everything we need to know about how to live in this world. Here are a few things it tells us: 1. We are "the salt of the earth" and "the light of the world" (Matthew 5:13, 14). 2. We are to teach all nations (Matthew 28:19, 20). 3. We must not love the sinful world (1 John 2:15-17). 4. We must not be friends of the world (James 4:4). 5. We are not to be conformed to the world (Romans 12:2). 6. We are to take care of widows and orphans and keep ourselves "unstained by the world" (James 1:27). 7. We must not store up treasures on earth, but store up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21). You are a loser if you gain the whole world and lose your soul (Matthew 16:26). 8. We are in the world but not of the world (John 17:11; 18:36). 9. Christ is the Saviour of the world (John 4:42). He overcame the world (John 16:33). Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world (1 John 5:1-5).
How can a Christian be truly happy?
By thinking more about the blessings of God and the love, joy, and peace which we have because we live and walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25). To be happy we must follow the example of Jesus “who for the joy set before Him endured the cross” (Hebrews 12:2). The Christian has all the joys of heaven to look forward to. We have the peace that Jesus gives us, not as the world gives, so our hearts don’t have to be troubled or afraid (John 14:27). It is a peace that “surpasses all comprehension” (Philippians 4:7) and a “joy inexpressible and full of glory” (1 Peter 1:8).
What does the Bible say about courtship and dating?
The Bible says many things regarding courtship and dating. (1) It must be between a male and female (Romans 1:26, 27). (2) Christians should date other Christians (2 Corinthians 6:14). (3) Fornication, heart adultery, and improper lust must be avoided (Matthew 5:8). (4) In culture where marriage is arranged by parents, it is wise to follow these customs as long as they do not violate Scripture. (Please see Ephesians 6:1-3.)
Word Affirmation: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works – 2 Timothy 3:17 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“All children of God need to submit more and more to the will of God. The more we do, the more we will be satisfied with the answers we get from God.”
