TEXT: ACTS 11:19-26
MEMORY VERSE: "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves
with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch"
- Acts 11:26
Many have said, because of evil influences, I just cannot live a Christian life. Is this really true? Does darkness always overpower light? Can light ever overcome darkness? Can Christians be Christians anywhere? Think of the faithfulness of Noah. At a time when the world was so wicked that every imagination of a man’s heart was evil continually, Noah was righteous. Since then, I wonder if the world has ever been quite as bad. Someone said, “The world got so dirty that God just gave it a good washing. But the next time instead of washing it, He’s just going to pile it up and burn it because washing won’t do any good.” Yet, Noah remained faithful though evil was predominant. It is possible, therefore, for people to live right when the majority are living wrong.
In 2 Timothy 3:12 we are told, “All that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” In Matthew 18:7 Jesus said, “Woe unto the world because of occasions of stumbling! For it must needs be that the occasion cometh!” In John 16:33 He said, “In the world ye have tribulation.” After Jesus had been tempted by the devil, Luke 4:13 says the devil left him for a season. But rest assured, though the devil might flee from you for a moment, he will return. He is very persistent. In the world we can expect trials. God never promised His people a paradise here. Christians will have trying situations.
As the world is going through crisis, are you still a Christian? Remember, life is full of ups and downs, so do not go with the tides, be who Christ is, at all times and in every situation and circumstance. Greater is He that is in you than they that is in the world.
Word Affirmation: For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith – 1 John 5:4 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“Being a Christian is not a title, it is a way of life.”
