BEFORE YOU GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
BEFORE YOU GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
A little boy tried in vain to put a toy together. The father watched with interest. The boy cried in defeat. The father asked him, have you used all your resources? The boy answered, yes. The father retorted, but you never asked for my help! We either receive the Holy Spirit or quench the Holy Spirit. You must know that this is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit, therefore, you must honour and reference Him.
There are many ways to sin against the Holy Spirit. We know we sin against God and hurt Jesus, but we are unmoved about sinning against the Holy Spirit. Believers must have reverence for the Holy Spirit. The power of Christianity is the power of the Holy Spirit. The book of Acts is the Acts of the Holy Spirit! God via the Holy Spirit was present, powerful, and acting in the lives of believers. Acts was not human works, but Christ works. In Acts the important thing was not explaining the Holy Spirit but receiving the Holy Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 says, “Quench not the Spirit.” Do not do spiritual things with carnal power. God’s work cannot be done under human power. You cannot be holy without the Holy Spirit. You can imitate holiness without being holy. Christianity is submission to the Holy Spirit, not submission to self-reliance. Christians are heirs, not orphans. The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirits! Notice! It says spirits, not minds, brains, or intelligences. Do not reduce the Holy Spirit to a formula. Do not become an achiever; be a believer!
Ananias and Sapphira lied to and tempted the Holy Spirit. We must not grieve the Holy Spirit or despise Him. It is impossible to share yourself with the Holy Spirit and still have room for bitterness. We may not have the strength to love and forgive, but the Holy Spirit does! Note that there is no forgiveness for any sin against the Holy Spirit – Matthew 12:31-32.
Word Affirmation: That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, gives unto ME the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the Knowledge of Him - Ephesians 1:17 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“Believers must have reverence for the Holy Spirit. The power of Christianity is the power of the Holy Spirit.”
