18 KEY LESSONS OF GENESIS 22 (3)

Can we review another two or three lessons today? We are considering 18 Key Lessons of Genesis 22 – the Sacrifice of Isaac. I believe Holy Spirit will help to interpret His Word in our hearts:

Lesson 4: Behold, here I am (Gen 22:1): Abraham was ever ready, his readiness is like of a soldier waiting for order from his boss. God did not call him twice, it was only once. God had to call Samuel thrice before he could understand Who was calling, but for Abraham, He recognized the Voice of God and quick in his response. Many are suffering today because they couldn’t recognize the Voice of God when He called unto them; many have missed their destinies because they failed to hear from God. Jacob could not recognize the Voice of God; he proceeded on his journey and wasted twenty good years of his life. He exclaimed when he met with Pharaoh and the same (Pharaoh) asked of him, “How old are you?” Jacob said to him, “The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.” – Genesis 47:9. Jacob’s response to Pharaoh was full of regrets because He did not recognize the Voice of God in his early life (see Genesis 28:10-22; 29:1).

Many have mixed the Voice of God with that of a friend hence the confusion they experience in their daily lives. Abraham was ready to obey the next instruction, when God called on Adam (the first man); he hid himself from the presence of God. Adam could not answer, “Here am I”. Abraham, Esau, Jacob, Samuel, Isaiah, Ananias, Jesus Christ, Paul, Peter and the other Apostles were the only ones in the Bible that made that short but powerful statement; Check out their lives. For any man that must be useful to God, s/he must answer, "Here am I, Lord".

Lesson 5: Abraham rose up early in the morning (Gen 22:3): Abraham’s obedience was immediate. He arose early in the morning to proceed on the journey. If any of Abraham’s friends or his servants asked him most times, “Where are you going?”. Abraham, most times could not provided convincing answers, because he (Abraham) never known where he was going. God has not always told him from the beginning his destinations. Apparently, this is the way God deals with any (wo)man He (God) want to use. The promises of God always speak about the end but God will never tell you what you will go through on the way. He took the Israelites out of the land of Egypt unto the promise land of Canaan, but never said that they would encounter the red sea, the wall of Jericho, the battle of Ai and the likes. You are only joking if you are expecting God to tell you everything you must go through before you get to your dream or fulfilling your vision. He only promised that He will be with you (Isaiah 43:2). Is God calling you today? Wake out of sleep and answer Him.

“For any man that must be useful to God, s/he must answer, "Here am I, Lord".”
