18 KEY LESSONS OF GENESIS 22 (2)

Today, we are looking at two lessons from the significance of Genesis 22 to Abraham and to us as believers, yesterday we looked at lesson 1 – the God that called Abraham:

Lesson 2: God tempted Abraham (Gen 22:1): If God could tempt Abraham, then you too will not be spared. Abraham received the call at age 75, left his father’s house on the idea of a God his people did not know, “He asked me to leave”. Who? God of Heaven and Earth! Where is He? He is invisible. He waited for a promised from this same God for good 24years and the same God is testing his 24years’ experience in Him with his only child. To become a blessing, you must pass through a test. Job was tested, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour was not spared. You too must pass through your test. Rejoice when you find yourself in any test of faith and rebuke any form of temptation around you. Temptation is a test of God’s word you received, for if the Word of God must produce fruits in your life, it must first of all be tried. Adam and Eve fell for the lie of Satan, the devil tempted and they failed. The battle is not about your person but about the Word of God in your life, that is the truth the devil wants to take away. The Devil must contest the truth you received – James 1:2-4, 4:7; Matthew 4:1-11. He, the devil, did not want the Word of God in you to produce fruits, you must rebuke him and he will flee from you.

Lesson 3: God called unto Abraham (Gen 22:1): The channel of communication between God and Abraham was constantly opened and strong, there was no time that Abraham dialled God’s number and He was not available, and there was not a single time when God called on Abraham that he (Abraham) was unreachable. When was the last time you hear from God? If He called unto Abraham, He is calling you as well. God always speak but it seems that the spiritual antenna of a lot of Christians is dead hence the rushing to mountain to meet man of God and the confusion in the land. When was the last time you open your Bible, even when you open to read, what is God’s message to you that day. Did you document it or you just think you will remember? If you don’t value the Word God speaks to you by having a record book, you will lose your channel of communication. God is not a talkative, He ever mean what He says (Psalm 68:11; 62:11). So document His promises, His prophesies, His instructions and all that matters as He speaks.

Don’t just rejoice and hurriedly leave the presence of God when He speaks to you, ask for instructions on how to go about what He says. A lot have received God’s Word truly but have lost the correspondence result because they couldn’t wait patiently to listen and receive the instructions in total hence the confusion. But God spoke to me about it, how come it didn’t come to pass; the problem is, you did not wait to receive ‘the how’ to the instructions. You have made fool of yourself, not God.
