18 KEY LESSONS OF GENESIS 22 (1)

Genesis 22 did not just make remarkable impacts in the life of Abraham; it did make timeless meaning to us more in the New Testament Age and the Church of Christ today. Abraham has come to the point in his spiritual journey of radical and immediate obedience to the Word of God. He is an archetype and inspiration to disciples of all ages. Let’s take a look at the 18 key lessons from our anchor Scripture for today, Genesis 22:

Lesson 1: The God that called (Gen 22:1): The God that called Abraham in this passage is different in characters from the One that appeared unto him before now, even though He is the same in person. In every Age and times, God presents Himself to people in a new way and with new names. God has revealed Himself to Abraham and his household with the names such as Jehovah El Elyon (The Most High)” - Genesis 14:18-20, 22; as Jehovah Adonai (The Lord, The Master) - Genesis 15:2; To Haggai as Jehovah El Roi (The Mighty One who sees) - Genesis 16:13; in Genesis 17:1-2 as Jehovah El Shaddai (Almighty God or All-sufficient God); and Jehovah El Olam (Everlasting God or God of Eternity) - Genesis 21:33.

But the God that called Abraham in Genesis 22 was Jehovah Elohim (the Creator). It takes someone who’s your Creator to command you to do what you cannot ordinarily do. There is a part/side of God we do not all know, we must strive to know Him; for the more we know God the more we do not know Him. Paul the Apostle, after several years in Ministry, with signs and wonders following, he planted churches in Asia and tour the world three times on mission works, one day, he cried out, “that I may know Him.” Paul what is it that you still want to know about God after all these exploits. But Paul knew that he only know God in part, there are parts of Him that He did not understand (Philippians 3:10; 1 Corinthians 13:9, 12). There is a part of God you do not know.

In this dispensation, God has giving us a Name that is above every other name; at the name of Jesus Christ every knee must bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Lord to the glory of God the Father. There is no other name that we might be saved except the name, Jesus. Jesus Christ is the only way to God and we must strive to know and called the right name at the right time when in prayer or in trouble. For example, Jabez received quick answer to his prayers because he prayed to the God who changes destinies, he called unto the God of Israel, not God of Jacob, not Jehovah Jireh (see 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, Genesis 32:26-28). The God of Jacob even though is the same, different from the God of Israel; anywhere the God of Jacob is mentioned in the Bible, it is referring to the past while the God of Israel represents the future. He appeared unto the children of Israel as I AM THAT I AM. Be more familiar with God in order to enjoy Him. Remember, engagement is not relationship.

Word Affirmation: “The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places." - Habakkuk 3:19 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“There is a part/side of God you do NOT know, strive to know Him.”
