WHO’S THIS JESUS? (1)

The Jesus in my house should not be different from Jesus in your own house. Christians have become worldly and wayward; it is the world that’s now giving direction to children of God. In this series, we shall be looking at the Saviour of the world. Who is he? Did He share the same experience with us? Is He real? Are you only confessing Him to be your Lord and Saviour because you see your parents or others doing the same? Are you still testing or trying this Jesus? Is the world deceiving you still that there is nothing like Jesus? Or Bible is a ruse? Recently, I read on a friend’s wall stating that Jesus is not real, that if Jesus came some 2000 years ago and there is no trace of Him but there’s that of Africans some 4000 years ago. He cannot comprehend the mystery or the story of this Jesus. When I checked her page the following day, she has deleted the post. A lot of people are in this state. Are you?

If we confess and profess Christ then there is need to critical examine His person and being. Do the Bible mentioned Jesus’ background at all? Yes, Jesus was presented in four Gospels of the New Testament; all of them confirmed the person, walks, works, power and authority of Jesus Christ. Matthew’s purpose is to present Jesus as the promised Saviour; Mark, the powerful Saviour; Luke, the perfect Saviour; and John, the personal Saviour. A critical look into the life of Jesus reveals that He had a background, a lineage, though He was born of the Holy Spirit, yet He had great grandfathers and their stories were not that perfect.

The Old Testament begins with the book of the generation of the world, and it is its glory that it does so; but the glory of the New Testament herein excels in that it begins with the book of the generation of Him that made the world. In Matthew 1:3, Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; if you know this story of Tamar, you will understand that the forefathers of Jesus were not perfect human beings (see Genesis 38). You will also see Racab a prostitute and Ruth a stranger, yet God combined their stories to fit with His plan. Jesus was therefore born of the Holy Spirit, in which you have and testify that you are a child of God, this does not rule out your background which may not be perfect. God will mould you into perfect being and make good of His purpose for your life. Jesus has good and unpleasant background likewise you. He was born the same way you are born and grow into adulthood. Men and women who were in His lineage were not perfect, so do not be disturbed. May you have courage to surrender to God through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ today.

Word Affirmation: Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought - Isa 60:11 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
