THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS
Forgiveness is one of the most powerful expressions of Christ’s love. In Matthew 18:21-22, Jesus teaches Peter that forgiveness should be limitless, extending “seventy times seven.” This is not a mathematical formula, but an invitation to a lifestyle of forgiveness, reflecting the mercy we have received from God.
Joseph, in the Old Testament, is a profound example of forgiveness. His brothers betrayed him, selling him into slavery, yet years later, he forgave them, recognizing that God had used their evil for good (Genesis 50:20). Forgiveness, then, is not about excusing wrongdoing but about trusting in God's ultimate justice and sovereignty.
Forgiveness frees us from the prison of bitterness and allows us to move forward in peace. When we forgive, we release the hurt and anger that can bind us and instead open ourselves to healing. It is an act of trust in God, believing that His grace is sufficient for both us and those who have wronged us.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, give me the strength to forgive others as You have forgiven me. Take away any bitterness in my heart, and replace it with love and grace. Help me to trust in Your justice and to walk in the freedom that forgiveness brings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Word Affirmation: “ The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more. - Zephaniah 3:15 KJV" (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“To forgive is not to forget the hurt but to surrender it to God, trusting that His grace is greater than our pain.
