THE GOOD SHEPHERD

THE GOOD SHEPHERD
Jesus, as the Good Shepherd, offers a relationship of deep intimacy, care, and protection to those who follow Him. In John 10, He declares that He knows His sheep, and His sheep know Him. This mutual recognition speaks of trust and familiarity, cultivated by a shepherd who is constantly present with His flock.
In the Old Testament, the imagery of God as a shepherd is powerful. David, himself a shepherd, paints this picture beautifully in Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." Just as David found peace, provision, and protection under God's care, we too find all we need in Jesus, the Good Shepherd. He leads us to green pastures, restores our souls, and walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death.
Jesus doesn’t abandon His sheep in times of danger. Unlike the hired hand who flees, Jesus lays down His life for His sheep. This act of sacrificial love gives us the ultimate assurance that we are cared for and protected. As His followers, we can rest in the knowledge that the Good Shepherd will never forsake us, even when the path seems perilous.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my Good Shepherd. I place my trust in You, knowing You will guide me through every trial and season of life. Help me to follow Your voice and find comfort in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
