THE MINDSET OF THE MIGHTY
THE MINDSET OF THE MIGHTY
In life, it is either you are taking a fight or a flight; the world is full of battles, wars, trials, tribulations, challenges or problems. This world is not for the faint-hearted, it is for the strongest, the bravest. Any believer that will accomplish so great a thing and conquer his world must not just have fellowship with the Holy Spirit, dwell in God’s presence and pray, but must also have a mindset that enables him to do so. You cannot be a warrior without fighting in a battlefield or being called a champion without competition, winning in life is all about a mindset, you can have the best arsenal but lack courage and confidence in your ability, that weaponry will be useless and make one to become a prisoner of war.
The mighty men of David were once vain men, how come they became mighty men? At the beginning of David’s persecution, it was said, vain men joined David, those in distress, in debt, and every one that was discontented gathered themselves unto David (1 Samuel 22:2). These ones later became mighty men not because of their stature or family background, but because of their exploits in battles. Adino slew eight hundred at once with his spear, Eleazar defied the Philistines, for when the men of Israel had gone away, he not only kept his ground, but arose, and smote the Philistines, his hand was weary, and yet it clave to his sword.
The mighty men were not used to giving up when they knew the cause to be right; they stood to fight alone when all others ran away. A coward will choose the flight option when faced with overwhelming challenges, but the brave the fight option. Not that the mighty had not been injured before but they kept fighting conquering their strong emotions that others could not. A feeling of failure is enough to defeat the strongest army. When you grab practical skills of any choice, do not fail to acquire leadership skill, it all starts with submission to responsible, responsive and competent authority. Abishai might not be the best of the three but became the leader of the mighty men. He was not as skilled or as dangerous as the three, yet he was their leader. Those three mighty men too humbly submit to competent leadership without feeling threatened or insecure.
These mighty men were determined to overcome, Benaiah had only a club yet defeated a man with a spear. It does not matter how little your instrument of work may be, let what in your heart be stronger than what is in your hands. Benaiah took the spear away and killed his enemy with mere club; much more he had great determination and confidence. A mighty man mindset has to do with the way you view the world, the way you view yourself, what you believe your God capable of doing – in and through you, what you believe about yourself and your capabilities, what you believe about your role in God’s plan and will and how you handle things like fear, apprehension, timidity, discomfort, pain, and negative thoughts and feelings. Much more, with fellowship of the Holy Spirit you can overcome any battle of life and in life. Remember, winning in life is all about mindset.
Word Affirmation: “When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell." - Psalm 27:2 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“It does not matter how little your instrument of work may be, let what in your heart be stronger than what is in your hands."
