THE JOY OF THE LORD
THE JOY OF THE LORD
While Nehemiah 8 is an Old Testament chapter, its declaration that "the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10) resonates throughout the New Testament. Jesus came to bring life and joy to His followers. In John 15:11, He said, *“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”* The joy of the Lord is not dependent on external circumstances but on the unchanging truth of who God is and His promises to us.
This joy empowers us in difficult times, giving us the strength to endure. Like the Israelites who were encouraged to rejoice even as they rebuilt Jerusalem in the midst of hardship, we, too, can experience joy in the Lord despite our challenges.
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22), and it is cultivated in our hearts as we remain connected to Christ, trust in His goodness, and live in His presence.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the joy that comes from knowing You. Let Your joy be my strength in every season of life. Help me to trust in Your goodness, even in times of trial, and to rejoice always in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Word Affirmation: “ The joy of the Lord is my strength. - Nehemiah 8:10 KJV" (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“The joy of the Lord is an eternal wellspring, a strength that sustains us when the world around us crumbles. "
