RELATIONSHIP IS NOT ENGAGEMENT(1)

Are you aware that relationship is not the same with engagement? Relationship is the way in which two or more people or things are connected, or the state of being connected while engagement is just an activity, a date kept. Engagement is an arrangement to meet or be present at a specified time and place. You can be engaged and not in relationship but it is impossible to be in a relationship and not engaged. Many people today when you asked them about their relationship with Christ, they quickly tell which church they attend or what activity (ies) they are involved with in whatever place they worship. I am glad to let you know that you may spend your days in church, if you do not have a firm relationship, intimate one with Christ, you are only engage and every engagement can be disengaged but it is difficult to let go of an intimate relationship.

How is your relationship with Christ? Do you know Him? Does He recognize you? What connection do you have with God the Father, God the Son (Christ Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit? Do you have good communication with Christ? If you stand among the crowd, can Christ identify you? By mere body odour, somebody in relationship can recognize the one s/he relates with in the dark. Why? Because they have spent time together and have known each other. But you can have a contact of people and met one time or the other and there is nothing in between you, such may be an acquaintance, not a family. The love or intimacy you have with your brother/sister is not the same with the one that you just know. Do you know Jesus? If you know Him, when was the last time you hear from Him? The one you are in relationship with, you will also want to hear from him/her. You talk more, such may know every of your steps and actions, but the one you do not relate or associate with, you may not really like to hear much from him/her.

The Word for the Moment today is to challenge you and ask about your relationship with God. Many people have replaced church activities with relationship with God. Many believers will neglect the Word of God but be quick to lead prayers or praise and worship in church. Ask a lot of believers in church, ushers, choristers, and the likes, when last did they open Scriptures? For some, it may be long ago, but those are the people who carry offering bags and lead people into the presence of God, if indeed they actually did. And how can people be blessed, such can never lead people to God’s presence even when they are sweating under anointing. Brother/sister, it is better to run back to Christ and strengthen your relationship with Him rather than looking out for opportunity to handle microphone next service.

Jesus confessed during His first sermon on the mount that not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven (the one in relationship with Heaven). He said, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. These people only have an engagement with Jesus, there was no relationship with Him, and therefore He would deny them when matter most. Remember, these set of people are not unbelievers but those who works for the Lord in His vineyard, those who profess Christianity but never of God, those who do not relate, depend, connect, no bond, no soul-tie with Christ but were busy, occupied with activities, employed, uncared, keep appointment with the Lord they do not relate with. It is so sad and absurd. Will you renew your love for Christ indeed today?
