TOPIC: IT’S A GOAL
TEXT: PHILLIPIANS 3:1-21

It was in my secondary days, those days when one goes to school from 7:00am to 6:00pm; when students finished normal school hours by 2:00pm, all of us would observe break time from 2:00 to 3:00pm and get back to class for self-learning, sports and cleaning of the school compound till 6:00pm. For the boys, we used most of our time playing football while female students played basketball, volleyball or badminton. On this particular day, some of us divided ourselves into teams to play the available ball I brought which must not be seen by my guardian. The rule was any team that first score stays while another set will enter the court, and we all knew to have only one hour to do this.

On the fateful day, I decided not to be at the goal post as I love goal keeping, I chose to be a striker, after all, I am the ball owner. The match was tough, no goal from the two sides and we have played for more than fifty minutes, time was approaching, other team members were waiting to come in, the school bell will soon ring, the top strikers were in both teams, I was the only underdog and the goal refused to come. Indeed, the march was tough and tensed, and finally at exactly fifty-nine minutes, a cross was put to me and I was at the far corner of my opponent, while the ball was coming, the goalkeeper too was on his way to save the ball, but by the time the ball would get to me, I just gave it a nod and the ball curved and lowly entered into the net. It was a goal! In the midst of the celebration, the school bell rang. All my mates, spectators, opponents and passersby came to hug me. The goal was the toast of many students for many days, I cannot forget the experience, it was indeed, a goal.

I write to you today because the Word for the Moment Daily Devotional began as a thought, a note from my morning quiet time, God spoke to me, don’t just become only the partaker of the morning wisdom I shares with you every morning. Today mark it a year we began this impactful journey. What cost you ten minutes to read every morning, cost me three hours daily to prepare and it has been a goal to fulfill daily. Beloved, what is it that God want you to do for Him? What is the idea that you have but has become impossible? Do you have a book to write or a song to compose? Whatever you think you want to do, you may think you do not have the time, but if you will sit and break it down, you will surely realize it is possible. Set aside thirty minutes or an hour in a day to write the book; in a year, you will finish the book. Now, I have more than a year daily devotional to publish. If I want to preach a message, I do not need to trouble myself, just pray to God and choose one out of many notes I have. Besides, I now open the Bible daily to read and study including joining a New Testament Challenge. The Will of God is a pleasure for those who begin. Thanks for being there and for your support in this one year. Let’s celebrate the moment and do not forget to start the dream. I see you fulfilling, only start the vision.

Word Affirmation: “For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed." - Isaiah 50:7 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“The Will of God is a pleasure for those who begin."
