HOW TO COPE WITH SUCCESS (4)

TOPIC: HOW TO COPE WITH SUCCESS (4)
TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 23

Some when it is well with them forget about their goals in life; forget about God, everything and everybody around them. Even though you are created for a purpose, you are not created in isolation. In order to NOT lose that which is important while holding on to success, you must do this second thing:

2. Do Not Forget Your Debt. If you have a measure of success, do not forget your debt to those who made it possible. Often, successful people get “too big” to remember “the little people” who helped them get where they are. David acknowledged the contributions others made to his success. Again I remind you of David’s “honor roll” in 2 Samuel 23, the list of his “mighty men” and their memorable deeds. Above all, however, David gave the Lord credit for his victories.

Anytime we achieve any success, however small, others contribute to that success. We should acknowledge that contribution. We may never have the opportunity to stand at the podium during an awards presentation and say, “I would like to thank my parents, my teachers, etc.,” but we can let those responsible know how much we appreciate what they did for us. A few words face to face, in a phone call, or in a note can be a tremendous encouragement. Above all, we need to realize it is God who makes success possible. We can lift our voices in thanks to God and tell others of the Lord’s goodness to us. Also, like David, we can dedicate all we have and all we are to the One who gave us everything.

Word Affirmation: God makes ME lie down in green pastures – Psalm 23:2 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“Above all, we need to realize it is God who makes success possible.”
