FULL-TIME JOB (1)

PSALMIST CHALLENGE: PSALM 51-55

PROVERBS CAPSULE: PROVERBS 11

Staying in the presence of God is a full-time job. If there is anything one should desire, it is the presence of God. The presence of God is where things happen, it is the control tower. Anything approved can never be disapproved here on earth and anything disapproved, no man can bring it to pass. The control tower must clear any aircrafts preparing for landing, if the control tower refuse to clear an aircraft for landing, disaster is inevitable. The presence of God which supposes to be a clearing house for many believers is becoming strange and many believers are equally becoming strangers in God’s presence. Will you cry to God today to restore you back to His presence?

How much time do you spend in God’s presence determines the level of your results in life. God’s presence is a full-time job, when you have a fulltime job, it becomes your focus. Jesus after His resurrection and before His ascension, told His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they receive the Promise. They have been with Jesus before His death for three and half years, forty days after resurrection and they were to tarry again for ten days before they could receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and of fire. While must they wait again for the Promise to come after spending almost four years with Jesus? None of them knew they were to wait for another ten days, Jesus did not inform them when the Holy Spirit would come, He only said, “Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem…”

The word, “Tarry” means, abide, dwell, linger, lodge, pause, remain, stay, sojourn, wait, or stick around. You can imagine Jesus’ disciples lodging in the Upper Room (looking like hotel) till when they do not know. Who will pay the bills? Beloved, how long can you stay in the presence of God? Can you build your house, make your bed, and prepare your meals in the presence of God? How long can you lodge, stay or stick around in His presence? Many of us have asked God for power and glory but yet receive it not; the problem may be the little time we spend in God’s presence. The beginning of greater things in one’s life is the amount of time one spend in God’s presence, apart from occasional, daily appearance in God’s presence, we must learn to stay, dwell, pause and remain in His presence till we receive.

Jesus stayed in God’s presence, in the wilderness, for 40 days and night (Matthew 4:2). Noah was in the Ark of Covenant for 40 days before he could open the window (Genesis 8:6), Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and He was in the mount 40 days and nights (Exodus 24:18) and often he spent days in God’s presence (see Exodus 34:28). The reason for thinking whether God still perform miracles like that of old is because majority of the believers today do not really have enough time for God. Honestly, no time, but out of no time, you should find time to dwell in His presence. If God’s presence will not yield results, Jesus would not say His disciples should stay and wait in the same city they crucified Him.

Word Affirmation: “God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us." – Psalms 67:1 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“The beginning of greater things in one’s life is the amount of time one spend in God’s presence."
