THIS SAME JESUS IS COMING AGAIN
TOPIC: THIS SAME JESUS IS COMING AGAIN
TEXT: REVELATION 22:6-21
MEMORY VERSE: “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly.
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.“ – Revelation 22:20
One of my favourite songs growing up is, “He is Coming Hallelujah by B.B. MC Kenneth”. The lyrics of the song are not online, therefore, here is an opportunity to sing along with me this morning; you can also watch the video on Youtube as performed by Triumphant Choir Ghana via the video icon above. Thanks to my wife who helped to locate the words of the song from her archive, her own manuscript dated 9th day of June, 2000. Let’s sing along:
He is coming, Hallelujah
He is coming Christ the King
Let the ransom of all nations
Loud hosanna glad sing
He is coming in His glory
He who died to conquer sin
He who made full atonement
Shall return to earth again
You can read the second stanza and chorus at the end of this devotional
After Jesus ascended, returning to heaven, two angels said to the Apostles, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18). Christ is coming again! The doctrine of the second coming is one of the essential teachings of the Christian faith. What will Jesus’ second coming be like?
(1) He will come gloriously and triumphantly—“with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God” (1 Thessalonians 4:16). He will come “in His glory, and all the angels with Him”; “then He will sit on His glorious throne” (Matthew 25:31; see 24:30).
(2) He will come openly and universally. Just as His followers saw Him ascend into heaven, people will see Him return from heaven (Acts 1:11). John wrote, “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him” (Revelation 1:7). Jesus said that “all the nations will be gathered before Him” (Matthew 25:32).
(3) He will come unexpectedly. He will “come just like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2; see 2 Peter 3:10; Matthew 24:42, 44). Throughout the ages people have tried to predict when Christ would come. Every such prophecy has failed; and such prophecies will continue to prove false because Jesus said, “Of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone” (Matthew 24:36).
HE IS COMING HALLELUJAH
He is coming, Hallelujah
He is coming Christ the King
Let the ransom of all nations
Loud hosanna glad sing
He is coming in His glory
He who died to conquer sin
He who made full atonement
Shall return to earth again
He is coming Hallelujah
Not a shadow not a tear
Not a sin and not a sorrow
When our Saviour shall appear
He is coming we are watching
With a hope that cannot die
O! How marvellous the glory
When we see Him by and by
Chorus:
And He shall reign Forever and ever
And He shall reign Forever and ever
And He shall reign Forever and ever
King of kings and Lord of lords
And He shall reign Forever and ever
“When He shall appear in glory. Will you reign with Him?”
