BE WILLING
TOPIC: BE WILLING
TEXT: GENESIS 22:1-19
MEMORY VERSE: “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” – Isaiah 1:19
Many of us who claim and sing “Abraham’s Blessings”, can we truly do what Abraham did before he got the blessing and became a Blessing? Many of us have not done an ounce of what Abraham did before fainting or begin to complain and ask ‘why me’. The truth of the matter is, in this journey of Christianity, you will be tested and your motive be weighed on right scale of God whether you truly love Him or you are only doing high service.
Abraham did not hesitate to obey the call of God, his obedience was immediate, at age of 100, and he must sacrifice his only begotten son, travelled on a three-day journey and unto a pagan land, a pagan country, a pagan mountain where people sacrificed their sons. Abraham responded to God’s call, woke up in the morning, saddled his donkeys and embarked on the journey of obedience. He never discussed it with his wife; he was ready to do the will of God no matter what. The Abraham’s Blessings will sing and seek for, did not just come on a platter of Gold, but on the mountains of sacrifice, personal discipline, total obedience and unshakeable faith in the invisible God.
The circumstances Abraham found himself in those days similar to ours, God did not appear to him physically, it was through dream and the land where Abraham lived and the land he came from were pagans countries, all of them had one god or the other they served, but Abraham came with ‘the idea of God’. God said to me, I should leave my father’s house, the God that he had never seen or people had heard about; this was the same God Abraham put all of his faith and trust in. it is the same God who told him in a dream to go and sacrifice his only son to him. What a strange God!
If you are in Abraham’s shoe, what’s going to be your reaction? Yours would not be different from that of Pharaoh who said, “Whose God it is that I will obey His voice” – Exodus 5:2. If you mistakenly discuss it in the ears of a friend or parent, you will hear: which God did you say he said you should go and sacrifice your only son or to quit your job for the work of the ministry? Because people were not seeing what you are seeing, do not compromise your stand in God due to what people says. It is not your concern whether they believe or not. Abraham never make sense of God’s word, he obeyed no matter how foolish it was.
Abraham’s obedience was immediate - He arose early in the morning. It was exact - performed in the spirit of worship. It was contagious - for Isaac used the same expression to his father, as he to God - “Here am I.” Apparently he had no need to acquaint Sarah with the object of his journey; he was so sure that the divine promise could not fail. He said to his young men, “We will come unto you.” If it were necessary, he knew that God would raise him from the dead.
In order for you to experience the blessings of Abraham, you must be ready to sacrifice your all. Stop asking where is the lamb, you are the lamb. God is asking for your time, for your talents, skills and bodies. He wants you to present your body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto Him, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1-2). A living sacrifice is all that Christ desires from you and on an altar burning for God. If you are willing today, you shall eat the best of the land.
Word Affirmation: “But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil." - 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“Stop asking where is the lamb, you are the lamb.”
