Lesson 14: A New Name for Elohim (Gen 22:14): And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, in the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. Abraham had said to Isaac, ‘God will provide a lamb,’ and the word ‘provide’ is that which appears in the name he gave to the place-Jehovah-jireh. The name, then, commemorated, not the servant’s faith but the Lord’s mercy, and the spirit of it was embodied in what became a popular saying, ‘In the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.’ If faith dwells there, its surrenders will be richly rewarded. How much more dear was Isaac to Abraham as they journeyed back to Beersheba! And whatever we lay on God’s altar comes back a ‘hundred-fold more in this life,’ and brings in the world to come, life everlasting.
Many times you have read in the Bible, sing a New Song to the Lord, but you have not composed even a line of song to show your gratitude to the God of Heaven and Earth. Many of us could not sing a new song because we do not see meaning in what we are going through or think we do not deserve all what is happening around us. Your problem is an opportunity to surname God. You are not dying in that your situation, God has a better purpose and plan for you. The situation you are in is not your end, there is a new you, a better you that God is working on. Many songs will sing today like the evergreen songs did not just come because the composer wanted to sing for commercial purposes, it came out of inspiration from situation around them. Many of us have lost opportunity to sing a new song to the Lord, instead we sing songs of complains, anxieties and worries. Repent! Be assured that God will surely supply your needs because there is still window in heaven. He is the Jehovah the provider, and if you cannot see His provision, go to His mountain, because on the Mount of the Lord, it shall be seen or provided.
You must call to mind the power, faithfulness, promises and the words of God during your waiting period and must think about how to turn your unpleasant circumstances to your own opportunity. There are great advantages in adversity. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning - Psalm 30:5.
Word Affirmation: “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him." - Psalms 68:1 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“Whatever we lay on God’s altar comes back a ‘hundred-fold more in this life,’ and brings in the world to come, life everlasting.”
