WHO’S THIS JESUS? (4)

In the year 1994, an issue of Life magazine has the cover “Jesus—Who Was He?” I guess that’s an erroneous question to ask. They should be asking, “Jesus—Who IS He?” The world of ours will never provide answer to the sin question until they answer the Son question: Who is Jesus? John Blanchard, an internationally known Christian preacher estimated that of all the people who have ever lived in recorded history, about 30 billion have lived on planet Earth. Of those billions, only a handful have risen to such prominence that they could have affected and effected human history. Among that handful, one name stands out above all: Jesus Christ.

No other person has ever attracted such attention, devotion, criticism, adoration, and opposition as Jesus Christ. He is the focal point of all theological discussions. Philosophers and historians have studied Him. He lived in the flesh more than 2,000 years ago in the small country of Israel. Yet for centuries His birthday divided the years into “B.C.” and “A.D.” You can look at your watch at any time, and millions of people will be studying His word. His ministry lasted only three brief years, yet His message travels around the world by radio and television. He had no formal education, yet His life caused the founding of more colleges, seminaries and universities than any other. Multiplied thousands of schools, hospitals and orphanages have been built in the name of Jesus Christ.

To explain Him is impossible. To ignore Him is disastrous. To refuse Him is fatal. Your speech is too limited to describe Him, your human mind too finite to comprehend Him, my heart too small to contain all the love that the Lord Jesus has. To know the answer to “Who is Jesus?” we must go to the divinely inspired Word of God. Phil 2:6-7, “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.”

The infinite became an infant, a fulfilment of Isaiah 7:14: “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son...” Do you find it hard to believe Jesus was born of a virgin? You’re not the first one. The first person was Mary herself. She asked, “How can this be?” The angel answered, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”- Luke 1:37. If you admit that God created the first man out of nothing, don’t you think God could bring a baby into this world through a virgin? The essence of studying or reading this today is for you to be aware ahead of time, because the Devil will come at a later date with all his devices, games, plans and arsenals to deceive you or make you to doubt the Salvation Jesus brings. He came for Jesus Himself using the same written Word, he will also come for you in words; so it is better to be well-equipped hence Christ’s Word to you this morning. Let the Truth set you free today.

Word Affirmation: And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father - Philippians 2:11 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
