TONGUES ALONE NOT ENOUGH
Becoming a Christian is a privilege and the first in the series of steps a child of God needed to take in overcoming life’s challenges and fulfilling his/her purpose. At the same time, becoming a child of God is not just enough to put food on one’s table. The way our world is structured, one must work before he can eat. God is principled, give us this day our daily bread does not mean manna is falling down automatically; you must work for the manna to come. Therefore, speaking in tongues back up by action with needed skills will definitely put food on your table and cause you to fulfilling God’s ordained purpose for your life.
The Israelites were taken into captivity by king Nebuchadnezzar, he asked Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs to bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes; children in whom there was no blemish, but well-favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. First, being a child of God is not enough to live in the palace; there are certain qualities and qualifications needed to be selected, it was not only Daniel and friends that are of Israel, king’s seed or princes, but there are certain qualities that set him and his friends apart. For Daniel and his friends, the king was looking not for only those who understood the Bible, but also men of skills, those who understood science, ready to learn and with whom the Spirit of God lives.
I suggest to you today to not stop just at the junction of being born again, a prayer warrior or tongue speaking alone; there is need for you to acquire necessary skills to save yourself, family and society from impending danger, poverty and famine. Also, poverty or challenges you are going through should not be the reason why you need to acquire skills, it is the vision, God’s vision for your life that should lead you to what type of skills you need to acquire. God filled Belzaleel with His spirit, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber. Belzaleel did not just receive the Spirit of God and turned the gift to mean he would become a prophet, he was ordained to devise cunning works for the building of God’s temple.
What are you cut out for? You might have the fire of God in your inside, but to cook what? There are gifts and talents in your inside that God has endowed you with, bring them out and learn more about it to profit with all. Do you lack money? Check your skill level! Do you want to be great? Use your gift and talent to lift people out of poverty. Note, your talents and skills are to provide solutions to people’s problems. If you can identify people’s problems or needs, and create appropriate and needed solutions to it, money will definitely flow in your direction. However, location matters in deploying your skills; yes, start from where you are, but look out for where your skills will be more appreciated and paid for, go ye therefore.
