THE DAY OF THE LORD’S FAVOUR (2)

THE DAY OF THE LORD’S FAVOUR (2)
If we are living in the Day of the Lord’s Favour, what should our response be? How can we fully embrace the grace that God has made available through Jesus Christ?
1. Receive God's Grace with Gratitude: The first response is to humbly receive the gift of God's grace. We do not earn God's favour; it is freely given. However, we must choose to accept it. We do this by placing our faith in Jesus, trusting in His sacrifice on the cross for our salvation. Living in the Day of God's Favour means daily acknowledging that we are saved by grace through faith, and not by our own efforts.
2. Proclaim the Good News: Just as Jesus was anointed to bring good news to the poor, we are called to share the Gospel with others. The Day of the Lord’s Favour is for all people, and we have the privilege of participating in God’s mission by proclaiming the message of salvation to those around us. In our workplaces, homes, and communities, we should be bearers of the Good News, telling others about the hope that is found in Christ.
3. Walk in Freedom: Jesus came to set the captives free. If we are truly living in the Day of God's Favour, we must walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for us. This means breaking free from sin, shame, guilt, and the lies that the enemy tries to place on us. Too often, we live as though we are still bound, even though Jesus has already set us free. To fully experience the Lord’s favour, we must embrace the freedom that comes from knowing we are forgiven and loved by God.
4. Extend Grace to Others: Just as we have received God's favour, we are called to extend grace and mercy to others. In a world filled with judgment, division, and hostility, we are to be agents of God’s love and forgiveness. This means being quick to forgive, slow to anger, and always ready to serve others in humility and kindness.
Although the Day of the Lord's Favour is an ongoing period of grace, it will not last forever. Scripture speaks of a coming "Day of the Lord" which will be a day of judgment for those who reject God's grace. This adds a sense of urgency to the message of Jesus. We are living in a time of great opportunity, but also in a time where decisions about faith carry eternal significance. God’s favour is available now, but we must not take it for granted. As Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 6:2, _“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”_ We are called to make the most of this season, both in our own lives and in reaching out to others.
The Day of the Lord’s Favour is a reminder of God's immense love and grace for us. It is a period marked by His mercy, healing, and deliverance. As we live in this day, let us embrace the favour of God with open hearts, proclaim the Good News with boldness, and walk in the freedom Christ has given us. And let us always remember the urgency of the times, making every effort to share the hope of salvation with those who are still in need of His grace.
Word Affirmation: “ For he says, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. - Nehemiah 8:10 KJV" (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“The Day of the Lord’s Favour is a reminder that God’s grace knows no bounds and is accessible to all who seek Him. "
