STUDY TO BE QUIET (3)

TOPIC: STUDY TO BE QUIET (3)
TEXT: MATTHEW 17:1-9
MEMORY VERSE: “And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead“ - Matthew 17:9

Jesus took three of His disciples to a high mountain and while they watched He was transfigured before them - His face became bright like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. It was a wonderful event, one that can launch a ministry into greater height. It was indeed an encounter for the three disciples, and as many of us will do when we find out a top secret or something that no one have seen before, we will want to show what we have just experience, we want to break the news. But Jesus charged, commanded His disciples "Don't tell anyone about what you saw on the mountain. Wait until the Son of Man has been raised from death. Then you can tell people about what you saw."

The reason why many are not successful in life and ministry maybe due to what I tagged, “mouth diarrhoea”, many have talked away their destinies unknown to them. You have not achieved the vision God just gave you, ten people have heard about it, so what else do you want to achieve; you have received your reward already. Paul commanded us to be ambitious in keeping quiet (1 Thessalonians 4:11). If the Lord Jesus the embodiment of the power of God commanded His disciples not to share a significant event, the one that can launch His Ministry to the entire world at a glance, then who are you to tell people around you about your dream when you are yet to realize it. Between the period of David the King and the birth of Jesus Christ there were 28 generations (Matthew 1:17), none of those people had ever seen Elijah in person and none of them too had seen Moses the deliverer. It was only Peter, James and John that got such a great privilege, (they will become a hit, instant billionaire if they share such experience) such encounter was enough to break the bank and launch them into successful ministries but Jesus charged them, “tell the vision to no man.”

We lose our benefits if we are the type that talks too much. Such a person will: (a) lose opportunity of getting more revelations from God, God does not share His vision with those who talk too much. There is strength in silence and most times, God greatest answers has been in keeping silence; (b) fight unnecessary battle or avoidable wars, the battles in the lives of so many believers and unbelievers today may likely be that of lack of self-control. A lot of people talk anyhow and there is no one they cannot talk to; by this, they had invited troubles into their lives; (c) lose authority and power, a person who talk too much, no self-control, cannot command anything to happen, heaven will never honour such words. A genuine prophet does not reveal all that he sees. If you are such a man that does talk too much, your strength is small. Samson lost his divine power because he revealed his secret to the enemy. A lot of us have revealed the secrets of our lives to enemies around because we cannot control our mouths.

If you are not achieving your goals in life, check, your problem may not be because of unanswered prayers, it may be that you cannot keep secrets. It may be due to people you share your dream with. The best thing you should always do is to talk more to God than men, if there is need for you to talk to men, let God lead you and allow Holy Spirit to direct you on what to say per time. Devil cannot stop what you never shared; he has no power (I Corinthians 2:9-12).

“A genuine prophet does not reveal all that he sees. If you are such a man that does talk too much, your strength is small.”
