RELATIONSHIP MATTERS (1)
RELATIONSHIP MATTERS (1)
Permit me to ask, “Who are your friends?” God did not create us in isolation, as we all know; the only thing God saw NOT GOOD at creation was for a man to be alone. We are familiar with this Scripture, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour”. The Bible even curses any man that is alone when he falls (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10). If you want to win in life and you want to rise above the level that you are, you need good people, quality friends around you.
If you are experiencing an unexplainable situation in which you have stayed long in and you have adequately prayed and it seems there is no escape route, it may be you lack quality relationship with people that matter. It is impossible for you to surround yourself with the same category of people; people that you share the same status with or at the same level and still expect to come out of that life’s situation in time. To understand this, let assume that you need a thousand naira and people in your cycle of friends are those who can only offer you ten naira, how do you want to come out of such challenge?
You need a quality relationship. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ chose twelve disciples out of the many people that followed Him during His earthly ministry (Matthew 10:2, Luke 6:13-16), a critical look at His elected Apostles shows that six of them were friends, brothers and partners, therefore, Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip and Nathanael (Bartholomew) – John 1:44. The first four disciples were together during the great catch in Luke 5 and it was Philip that went to look out for Nathanael (see John 1:45). None of these six friends ever knew what they called themselves into. Their reward was not just that they became the disciples of Jesus (chosen out of the one hundred and twenty people), but that they became the foundation upon which the New Heaven and New Earth is built (Revelation 21:14). Even the twelve tribes of Israel that came out of the loins of Jacob were just gates in the Kingdom, these six friends will forever be grateful to whosoever that linked them up to Jesus. It was a rare and great privilege to not just become pillars or walls in the Kingdom, but foundation.
Who are you with - those who has the capacity to lift you up or those who always pull you down? You don’t need a friend who just wants to use and dump you. There are different categories of friends out there; there are abusers, misuse, use, and useful relationships. Never walk in handicap relationship, prayerfully select your friends. May God hand you over to the person that will link you up to your desired opportunity. It takes man to make a man when God is ready to do His work. Jonathan yielded his throne to David, he knew that David will reign instead of him as a king yet he loved David unto death (1 Samuel 18:1). What are you doing in a relationship that cannot lift you? What are you still doing in a toxic relationship or environment? Ask God to open your eyes to right relationship today and be ready to make something out of it. Do this just this morning; check your cycle of friends. Who are they?
