PAY YOUR DEBT

PAY YOUR DEBT

The Bible encourages us to owe no man anything, living in debt and a life of constant borrowing as a child of God is contrary to the will of God. A life of debt makes one a servant to the lender and giving the dark powers an opportunity to evade one’s life, if there is an environment you do not want to live, it is called, debt (Proverbs 22:7). Make every effort not to live in debt this year and plan to pay up your debt. Debt does not know a man of God, it does not respect title, anointing or speaking in tongue. The prophet that the creditors came for his two sons had the reputation of a godly man but yet died in debt. Elisha knew him to be one that feared the Lord; he was one that kept his integrity in a time of general apostasy, one of the 7000 that had not bowed the knee to Baal, but died as a debtor. Every good man lived inheritance for his children, the prophet left debt for his, if not for divine intervention, the creditor would have taken away the sons of the prophet as slaves. If a child of God is not careful in spending, he can become a slave unknown to him.

If you have an idea to borrow, then you should also have an idea to pay up your debt. Prayer is not enough, your creditor does not want to hear you are praying, all what he want to hear is you are paying. Never borrow to eat, if there is need to borrow at all, let it be towards a project that you know will yield results and allow you to pay up your debts. If you owe somebody, let him not be the one to remind you of the debt; it is a mark of honour to always call or be in contact with your creditor, even when you know you will default in payment. It is an insult to your creditor to be the one calling you for his money, he respect you in the first instance that is why he loaned you the money, so respect him in return by paying up in time and if circumstance prevents you not to, make every effort to always be in touch with him.

Rom 13:8 says pay your debts as they come due. However, one debt you can never finish paying is the debt of love that you owe each other. The one who loves another person has fulfilled the Law. To love one another, this is a debt that must always in the paying, and yet always owing. Love is a debt. The law of God and the interest of mankind make it so. It is not a thing which we are left at liberty about, but it is enjoined us, as the principle and summary of all duty owing one to another; for love is the fulfilling of the law; not perfectly, but it is a good step towards it. Dear friend, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has become God's child. And so everyone who loves knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:7-8).

Word Affirmation: “Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly." - Psalm 3:7 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“If a child of God is not careful in spending, he can become a slave unknown to him."
