TOPIC: OPPOSITION TO THE WORK
TEXT: NEHEMIAH 4:1-23

No matter how foolish is your idea, you will definitely see somebody that will still oppose it; even in opposition camps there are opposing view. As a child of God, you must know how to deal with opposing view in order to fulfil your mission and God’s agenda. No matter how you pray, opposition will surely come; the only thing to pray for is victory over anything contrary to the plan of God for your life. Can you imagine that Sanballat and Tobiah who lived and ate in the city of Jerusalem opposed the rebuilding of the same? How on earth would a man take pride in disrupting the good of all? But that’s how the world were framed since the fall of man, the person that you think should be there for you may be the one removing the ground upon which you stand; the Scripture confirmed this, “A person's enemies will be the members of his own family - Mat 10:36 (GWV). If God open your eyes to see the one behind the battle that you are fighting, it will shock you. Never look far, the enemy is within your environment. But fear not, for God is with you!

The enemies to the work Nehemiah began nearly worn out the people who are busy doing the work, but thank God for the exceptional leadership qualities of Nehemiah, he rallied the people, prayed to God to come to their aid and fortify themselves. As you are guarding your destiny spiritually, safeguard it physically too by first shut your mouth; it is not everything that should be in the public space, God loves a cheerful keeper if I may use that words. Second, focus on the work and on your God; while acknowledging the presence of opposition, make God and the work He committed to your care as your main focus. Jesus endured the Cross and focused on the goal, if not, there are so many things that should made Him to abandon God’s Will even right from His birth, but He focused on His Assignment ( Hebrew 12:1).

Another thing you need to do is to be a man of intelligence, find means of knowing what your enemies are planning against you whether physically or spiritually by fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, praying in tongues, feeding the poor and whosoever that’s in opposition against you (David did) and pray to God to judge your enemy is His own way. Never make opposition your mission. Fourth, note that the opposition are there to help you fulfilling God’s destiny, never be in haste to disperse them. For everything, there is a purpose. Beside, check yourself too when you are in constant opposition, opposition came to change you too. Good work goes on well when people have a mind to it. The reproaches of enemies should rather quicken us to our duty than drive us from it. Fifth, do not be in opposition against anybody, never be anybody’s enemy; for whatever you sow, you shall reap.
