IS GIVING A MEANS OF SURVIVAL?

IS GIVING A MEANS OF SURVIVAL?

Christianity is all about what we do and how we do it. To have a life, there must first be a giving; it is laying a solid foundation for brighter and secure future. Lack of giving today makes one an ill-favoured and lean-fleshed being, though standing upon the brink of the river. If you in a right manner give to others when they need, God will incline the hearts of others to give to you when in need, and to give liberally, good measure pressed down and shaken together (Luke 6:38). They that sow plentifully shall reap plentifully, and whom God recompenses He recompenses abundantly.

Do you, like others think first fruits, tithe or offering is part of investment to make one rich in the year? Bury the thought, for first fruit, tithe or offering is an obligation with a reward which comes at God’s own time and term, and not on yours. Paying of tithe or first fruit is just a demonstration of your love and faith in God and not means to acquire wealth; it is giving unto God, it is better not to think about it as part of your income. For giving of first fruits, tithe and offering has stopped many people not to go to church again, because they thought by paying of first fruit annually or tithe giving regularly will make them rich; forgetting that the purpose of giving all or any of these is to provide food to workers in God’s vineyard as He has provided food for them. The truth is, you are not the one that determines when such harvest shall come, so stop planning on return from tithe giving, do not base your expenses on the blessings that will follow your first fruit offering.

The concept of first fruit will be well understood if you are a farmer, it is what you first reap during harvest season, and because God owns everything, you take it to Him as a mark of honour. God will then bless the remaining harvest and make you great at His own time. Giving of first fruit is by faith, some believers do it every year, others do it once and for all; but it is a concept you must understand yourself. It is not by force, it is by faith. You are not going to hell if you do not give first fruits, tithe or offering and it does not stop your income as a worker, but you might not have a cover against the plan of the wicked if you fail to do, for God is a God of principle. Though giving does improve your chances to live a better life in the future and help raise altar of blessings when you need one, being a righteous person, giving yourself to the Lord is much more important to God than giving of money or substance.

Let your giving be that of an obligation, what you must do whether the blessing comes or not. If you are not convinced enough about first fruit or tithe, do not do it because others are doing it. Ask why you must pay it, study the Bible, pray to God and get the necessary help. One thing is sure, whether your first fruit is once in a lifetime or once in a year, it has great reward; only that the blessings does not come at your own term, but it spread grace upon one’s life. Therefore, plan to give more this year and make giving your attitude.

Word Affirmation: “Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased." - Psalm 4:7 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“Being a righteous person, giving yourself to the Lord is much more important to God than giving of money or substance."
