TEXT: PROVERBS 4:25-27
MEMORY VERSE: “Doing right sets honest people free, but people who can’t be trusted are trapped by their greed.” – Proverbs 11:6 (ERV)

What was your Alma matter’s slogan? Mine was, “Integritas.” In my school days, we echoed, “Integritas” passionately without even know what we are saying; it was several years later that I began to ask for the meaning of this word, “Integritas” which is a latin word, meaning Integrity. When I got to know the meaning, I said, oh! This was why the school principal then and other teachers would be on our necks not to cheat, to be punctual and do things right. Today, many people claim integrity but lack such in reality. People tell lies like water to the extent one do not know who to trust. Many believers have abandoned their churches just because a brother or a sister duped them. If a trustworthy person cannot be found in the house of God, then where do we get one, in the market or at petrol station? Are you a (wo)man of your words? Can anybody within your family or friends’ circle bank on your words and go to sleep? If you are told, a program is by so and so time, what time do you appear, early or late? It is impossible to NOT honour your own words and expect God to honour His. Whatever you sow, you shall reap.

Integrity may not give you money at times, but it will give you a good name. it looks foolish at the initial stage, but pay higher at a later date. What do you stand for as a child of God? Where do you stand when it comes to the truth? Joseph stood for God in his days. He always report his elder brothers to their father when those brethren misbehaved, he left his garment and fled from Potiphar’s wife and decided to suffer rather than enjoying the pleasure for a moment. Joseph stands for the truth put him in trouble many times, but this virtue eventually profited him. It matters not the name people called you whenever you stand for the truth, your own cloth of many colours may be taking away, but not your colourful inside; never mind, higher and better hands will decorate you soon in the presence of your haters.

Many people have lost their destinies and opportunities due to lack of integrity. Can people trust you? Can you be trusted with money or with women? Many people, civil servants, employees, employers, public servants, politicians, pastors and imams have become something else in the face of money and fame. Will you join them or are you part of them already? God’s judgement and rewards are coming for those who stood for Him and sell not their conscience. Have a truthful day!
