GOD'S WORD AND HIS WAY (2)

GOD'S WORD AND HIS WAY (2)
In Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus speaks of two paths: a broad one that leads to destruction and a narrow one that leads to life. His Word illuminates the narrow path, helping us to avoid the temptations and distractions that could lead us away from Him.
God’s Word doesn’t just show us the way—it transforms us. Hebrews 4:12 describes the Word as being alive and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, capable of discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. As we read and meditate on Scripture, it changes us from the inside out, shaping our thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours to align with God’s will.
When we submit to the authority of Scripture, it acts as a mirror, reflecting areas of our lives that need correction. It convicts us of sin, teaches us truth, and leads us to repentance. In Psalm 119:11, the Psalmist declares, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” The more we immerse ourselves in God's Word, the more it transforms our hearts, enabling us to live in a way that pleases Him.
To walk in the light of God’s Word means to live in obedience to it. It’s not enough to simply read or hear the Word; we must apply it to our lives. James 1:22 admonishes us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only, lest we deceive ourselves. Obedience is the true test of our faith. Jesus Himself said in John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Living according to God’s Word brings immense benefits. It leads to wisdom, protection, and blessing. Psalm 1:1-3 paints a beautiful picture of the person who delights in the law of the Lord and meditates on it day and night. Such a person is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season and prospering in all they do.
However, walking in the light of His Word does not mean that the journey will always be easy. There will be times of trial, opposition, and difficulty. Yet even in the darkest moments, God's Word remains a steadfast light, guiding us through adversity and helping us stay rooted in faith.
Ultimately, God’s way leads to eternal life. Jesus is the living Word, the embodiment of God's truth. In John 14:6, Jesus declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” To follow the way of God is to follow Jesus, the light of the world. Just as God’s Word is a lamp and a light, Jesus is the light that leads us out of darkness and into eternal life with the Father.
This is why it is so crucial that we make the Word of God central in our lives. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with conflicting messages, opinions, and philosophies, only God’s Word remains eternally true. It shows us the way to live now and prepares us for eternity.
Word Affirmation: “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake." – Psalm 23:3 (KJV) (Don't just say it, mean it!)
