EXPECTED DAY OF DELIVERY (EDD)
TOPIC: EXPECTED DAY OF DELIVERY (EDD)
TEXT: ACTS 1:9-11
An expectant mother carries her pregnancy for like eight or nine months depend, but no woman knows the exact day or time to deliver her baby(ies), though the due date can be calculated. Most pregnancies last around 40 weeks or 38 weeks from conception, the expected day of delivery is calculated thus, a woman count 40 weeks or 280 days from the first day of her last menstrual period. Another way is to subtract 3 months from the first day of her last period and add seven days, this is how a doctor will estimate pregnant woman due date, but in reality, it is just as normal to deliver a week or two before or after.
Come to think of it, an expectant mother does not just fold her hands expecting her day of delivery, she does what a responsible and expectant mother always do: exercise, eat right, stick to doctor’s instruction, go to market to buy things needed; in short, she prepares while waiting for her due date. Likewise, what if you know that Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour will come by the end of this year, what are you going to do? Remember, this Jesus shall come one day as a judge and to take all faithful believers with Him. Now, you know He is coming, what will you like to do before His coming? What are the things you likely to change? And what are things you like to amend? Think about what’s not right in your life, the bad behaviours you indulge in and take away all the wicked and abominable things. Jesus is coming back again and it can be at anytime. Nobody knows the exact time but He might come a week before or a week after, depends. How are you preparing then?
The apostles and disciples gathered in Galilee, while Jesus was speaking the cloud received Him out of their sight, while they steadfastly gazed into heaven, the angels of the Lord appeared and charged them saying, “This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven”. So your own due date from life’s bondage, tribulations and trials will surely come at the appearance of Jesus, but how prepare are you? Are you expecting Jesus at all? He will surely come whether you prepare or not, whether a pregnant woman prepares or not, a baby will soon be delivered. Therefore, if she fails to prepare adequately for the arrival of the baby, her shame is waiting and I know no woman, no matter how poor will not prepare for her EDD.
Beloved, this Jesus is coming likewise, in John 14:3, Jesus said, “…I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also”. So if Jesus is preparing for your arrival, are you preparing for your departure? One day whether by death or rapture you drop this corruptible body, so where are you going to land? In heaven, for commendation or in hell, for condemnation? Think, for your due date is near; Jesus coming is imminent. Will you reign with Him? Be prepared! Maranatha!
