CAN YOU STILL TRUST THE BIBLE? (1)

TOPIC: CAN YOU STILL TRUST THE BIBLE? (1)
TEXT: JOHN 1:1-5
MEMORY VERSE: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” – 2Timothy 3:16-17

Can you still trust the Bible in the face of the happenings and negative events in our world today? It may be difficult for people to still trust the Bible. Where is God some people asked? Why did God allow the doors of churches to be shut during lockdown? Why did he allow COVID-19 in our world? Do you still doubt the Bible thinking it is a scam? When you cannot trace God trust Him still, that is Christianity. The Bible which contains the Word of God still has integrity, He can never disappoint. The Bible was given by God. It has been transmitted through the ages and restored in a trustworthy fashion. Therefore, when it is correctly translated and properly interpreted, its message is God’s required moral standard. Further, the New Testament is the exclusive doctrine of Christ. The Bible was inspired by God and has divine authority over all situations and circumstances.

The Bible was given by inspiration of God as the Holy Spirit worked within select men, revealing to them the thoughts of God and enabling them to use the appropriate words to communicate divine truth without error. “Inspiration” is from Latin words meaning “breathe in or into” (in and spiro) and from a Greek word meaning “God-spirited” or “God-breathed” (theopneustos). God put the Holy Spirit into the writers of the Bible and, through Him, guided them in the writing of the Bible. Thus “inspiration” may be defined as the process by which God breathed His Spirit into men, enabling them to receive and communicate divine truth without error.

The biblical claims for inspiration are an important part of the data supporting the divine origin of the Bible. The Old Testament makes over 3,800 claims to being the express words of God. This claim is made 2 to 3 times per page in the average edition of the Old Testament. The Pentateuch makes this claim 420 times, saying, “The Lord said to Moses” or indicating that Moses was repeating the words of the Lord (Exodus 17:14; 19:6, 7; 20:1; 24:4, 7; 35:27). In Psalm 119 the writer called the Scriptures “the word [or words] of the Lord” twenty-four times. The prophets claimed what they spoke or wrote was what the Lord had spoken to them. This claim was made by Isaiah 120 times, Jeremiah 430 times, Ezekiel 329 times, Amos 53 times, Haggai 27 times, and Zechariah 53 times.

Jesus declared the Old Testament to be God speaking. He said to the Pharisees, “For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death’” (Matthew 15:4). In this combined quotation (see Exodus 20:12; 21:17; Deuteronomy 5:16; Leviticus 20:9), Jesus declared these writings to be the Word of God. He quoted from Genesis 2:24, saying, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?” (Matthew 19:4, 5) If you understand the Bible, you will not be troubled with the happenings in the world. When you turn your face to the Bible, you will be more enlightened and never will you be put to shame. Let us still trust the Bible, it works with patient.

Word Affirmation: “And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee." = Isaiah 60:10 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
