ANOINTED TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR (2)
ANOINTED TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR (2)
Preaching the gospel is not just the responsibility of pastors and evangelists; it is the calling of every believer. Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit to preach the good news, and as followers of Christ, we too are anointed to share the gospel with those around us. This does not always mean standing in a pulpit or delivering a sermon. Sometimes it means sharing the love of Christ in everyday conversations or living in such a way that people see Jesus in us.
The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:14-15, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”
We are all called to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to a world in need. Whether through words or actions, we have the privilege of sharing the message of salvation with others.
One of the most powerful aspects of the gospel is its ability to reach those who are often overlooked or marginalized by society. Throughout His ministry, Jesus demonstrated a deep concern for the poor and the outcast. He spent time with tax collectors, sinners, and those whom society had rejected. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and ministered to the broken.
The gospel is not just about spiritual salvation; it is about the holistic restoration of individuals and communities. When we preach the gospel, we are not only offering people the hope of eternal life but also the possibility of transformation in the here and now. The gospel brings healing, deliverance, and freedom to those who are poor in every sense of the word.
As followers of Christ, we are called to continue the work that Jesus began. We are anointed by the Holy Spirit to preach the good news to the poor, both in word and in deed. This means that we not only share the message of salvation but also demonstrate the love of Christ in practical ways. We are called to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and care for the sick and the oppressed.
In doing so, we reflect the heart of God and give a tangible expression to the gospel. Our acts of love and service open the door for people to hear and receive the good news of Jesus Christ.
Word Affirmation: "And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed." – Isaiah 61:9 (KJV) (Don't just say it, mean it!)
"The gospel is not just for the religious elite; it is for the poor, the broken, and the lost."
