ACQUAINT THYSELF WITH GOD
It is our duty and interest to acquaint ourselves with God. If we do not want to be destroyed and exploited, there is need to acquire the knowledge of God, fix our affections on Him and not things below, join ourselves to Him in a covenant of friendship, follow His instructions and obey until He call us His friends, and then establish, and keep up, a constant communication, connection and ties with Him in the ways He has appointed. No matter the level of our relationship with God today, there is a part of Him we do not know and it is a pity that many people though busy for God, do not really have time to know Him. If our focus is on God, we will find Him; for it is impossible for us to look up to God and our faces not shine brightly. Shame and disgrace will never come to a (wo)man who look up to God.
Job’s friends did not believe any calamity can befall a man after God’s heart and asked Job to move closer to Him; by this, they believed he would find solutions to his problems. It is an irony many people serve God today because of their problems; it is true Jesus said, “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and heavy laden” but it is an invitation to come to see His Persons first, then gives His solution. Upon that invitee, many people still go to God and refuse to drop their loads; they still make their problems their focus. God want a relationship, what He missed was the communion and not the Garden; it is you that God needs. Will you give Him your attention? Will you acquaint yourself with Him? Let it not be that it is when you need God that you go to Him, that will mean you just want to use God.
There are great benefits in knowing God, peace that surpasses all understanding and knowledge is guarantee when you know Him. In addition, such a person is attractive to God’s goodness. The Bible says, “If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up”. If you know God indeed you will have a good stature and status in the society, no one can look down on you because you will keep rising and shining until kings come to your brightness (Read Job 22:21-29, Isaiah 60). It also includes prosperity: when you fix your affections on God, then you shall lay up gold as dust and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
The greatest accomplishment for a man on earth today is to find God, the most important achievement in life is not professorship or becoming a president of a nation, it is finding God and becoming like Him. Any man that is yet to find God is missing purpose and wasting destiny. Not knowing God does not stop you from becoming whatsoever you plan to become, but exclude you from becoming what He (God) planned for you right from the beginning of the world. No man sees God and remains the same. Your prayer today should be, “O God of the Heavens and the Earth, reveal yourself unto me. I want to know your Way and Will. And I want to experience your Person, Presence and Power”. All things are yours if you have God as your Father and have constant relationship with Him.
