A WORTHY HOME (3)

TOPIC: A WORTHY HOME (3)
TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:22-29
MEMORY VERSE: “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” – Ephesians 5:27

To sincerely enjoying your marriage as established by God in the Garden of Eden before the devil came in, you must: 1) ensure to give all glory to God in whatsoever you and your spouse achieved; 2) know that God want to present your marriage to Himself as a glorious church; 3) be conscious of no other person except your spouse; 4) walk in love like Christ and give yourself as an offering and sacrifice to one another – Eph. 5:2; 5) know that whatever you do in your relationship, you are doing it unto God; 6) based everything you do in your marriage on the Word of God, trust and rely absolutely on the Word of God. Whatever the Word of God cannot do for you in your relationship, nobody can; 7) whatever you might be passing through in your relationship, know ye that it is to the glory of God (Romans 8:28); 8) never rely on your intelligence, but rather pray for the Wisdom of God to guide you in all you do; 9) place the leadership of your home and relationship on Christ and make Him number one priority; 10) Be happy and enjoy every moment with your spouse.

Jesus, His mother and disciples were invited to a wedding in Cana of Galilee, I guess Jesus noticed that it is just a mere invitation (John 2:1-12), the couples did not seek for counsel from Jesus, He was not consulted but just by privilege they knew Mary the mother of Jesus, so by that virtue Jesus was invited. Do you know that this couple made all the preparation, bought all they thought they would need without Jesus? They made use of their imaginations and intelligence to buy all what they need, the good wine, foods, cake, decorations, etc but could not imagined that their wine would got finished at some point.

Jesus response when His mother came to Him showed that the appearance of Jesus in that wedding was due to His mother, He was not a special guest of honour, so when they ran into trouble, they could not run to Jesus for help. Unlike Martha and Mary when Lazarus died, they sent for Jesus and ran to meet Him when He eventually came. This couple could not do that, they had to seek for Jesus help through His mother. Never behave this way; the best is always with Jesus. He has the solution to every situation and He is the solution. This couple ran to Jesus when their intelligence failed them, your prayer today suppose to be, oh Lord, punctured all my egos and my intelligence so that I can rely on you. You might not know when the next meal will come for your family, but if you have solely relied on the promise and person of Christ, He will never put you to shame.

Before the fall of man, God always come to fellowship with Adam and Eve, meaning, He (God) values relationship and so each day before the fall, Adam and Eve presented themselves to God without spot or wrinkle. Every day before the fall, they are always happy to meet with God because they carried the glory of God, but the day sin entered into their lives, they were hiding from God who happens to be their father. Never hide anything you are going through or you want to do from your Creator, He is aware but He want you to call on Him. Analyze every situation or development with your spouse in all humility and sense of responsibility and jointly take it to God in prayers (Genesis 3:1-24). Doing all of these and more, your marriage will be a worthy home and reference point.

Word Affirmation: "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety." - Psalm 4:8 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“Whatever the Word of God cannot do for you in your relationship, nobody can.”
