UNDERSTANDING DIVINE EXPECTATION

UNDERSTANDING DIVINE EXPECTATION

God’s expectations are not a mystery; He has made them clear throughout Scripture. In Micah 6:8, God outlines what He requires from us: to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him. These expectations are not burdensome rules but invitations to live in harmony with His character. Acting justly means to uphold fairness and righteousness in our dealings with others, reflecting God’s own justice. Loving mercy involves showing compassion and forgiveness, just as we have received mercy from God. Walking humbly with God is about recognizing our dependence on Him and living in a way that honours His sovereignty in our lives.

These divine expectations are also relational. They guide us not only in how we relate to God but also in how we interact with others. As we strive to meet these expectations, we are transformed into the image of Christ, who perfectly embodied justice, mercy, and humility. This transformation is a lifelong journey, one that requires daily commitment and reliance on the Holy Spirit. As we grow in understanding and fulfilling these expectations, we will experience deeper communion with God and greater impact in the world.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to understand and meet Your expectations for my life. Guide me to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You every day. Amen.

Word Affirmation: “ The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.  - Psalm 138:8 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“God’s expectation of us is not burdensome; it is the pathway to our fulfillment and joy in Him."
