Intercessions - Great Weapon for Breakthrough

Intercessions - Great Weapon for Breakthrough

Intercession is one of the most powerful spiritual weapons available to believers, yet it is often overlooked. To intercede is to stand in the gap—praying fervently for others, situations, and even nations. The Bible emphasizes the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16), demonstrating that intercession is not a passive activity but a dynamic force that shifts circumstances, dismantles spiritual strongholds, and ushers in divine intervention. Throughout Scripture, intercessors such as Abraham (Genesis 18:23-33), Moses (Exodus 32:11-14), and Daniel (Daniel 9:3-19) demonstrated the power of standing before God on behalf of others. Their prayers averted judgment, secured deliverance, and established divine purposes. Jesus Himself is the ultimate intercessor, as He "ever liveth to make intercession for us" (Hebrews 7:25). If Christ continuously intercedes, then believers must follow His example, engaging in persistent and strategic prayer to bring about breakthroughs in their lives and the lives of others.

Intercession is a divine strategy that not only brings transformation but also strengthens the believer spiritually. Paul instructs Timothy, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men" (1 Timothy 2:1). This reveals that intercession is not limited to personal needs; it extends to leaders, communities, and even those who oppose the faith. It is a spiritual act of warfare that destroys satanic operations, enforces God’s will, and releases divine favour. The enemy dreads the prayers of an intercessor because they create spiritual turbulence, breaking chains and opening doors of deliverance. In Ephesians 6:18, Paul connects intercession to the full armour of God, emphasizing that victorious Christian living requires prayer and supplication in the Spirit for all saints. Without it, battles are lost, but through it, divine power is released, bringing breakthroughs in impossible situations.

A life of intercession is a life of supernatural encounters and divine alignment. When believers commit to fervent, Spirit-led intercession, they become conduits of God’s power, bringing healing, revival, and restoration. Elijah’s prayer shut the heavens for three and a half years, and his intercession reopened them (James 5:17-18). This shows that intercessors have the authority to shape events according to God's will. No challenge is too great, no wall too high, and no delay too long when intercessory prayer is employed. The Church must rise to the call of standing in the gap, crying out for nations, families, and individuals. Whether seeking personal breakthrough or contending for the advancement of God’s kingdom, intercession remains an indispensable weapon that brings divine results. Let your voice be heard in the courts of heaven, and watch as mountains move, chains break, and breakthroughs manifest.

Word Affirmation: "And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve." – Isaiah_14:3 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

"Intercession is the bridge between impossibility and divine breakthrough; when believers stand in the gap, heaven responds with power."
