THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID (2)
To enjoy God’s mercies, you must be deliberate in your approach. God did not just make an everlasting covenant with David; assurance of God’s mercy will not only come by prayer alone. If you want God’s mercy you must show mercy to self and to others, in addition, there are several things done by David to learn from if you want to be a partaker of this everlasting covenant. 1. Let God and His love fill your heart. Be overwhelmed by the things of God and let Him overshadow all you do (Psalm 84:1-4). 2. Understand God. Majority of believers operate in the God introduced to them, they have not come to the Knowledge and understanding of the God they know. Moses thought he knew God, not knowing that he was working in the God introduced to him until he became a murderer. But after this time when he came to the knowledge of God he personally encountered he became a mighty man.
Do you want to experience the Sure Mercy of David? 3. Stand up for God where and when it is matter most. David returned Israelites confidence in God. When Goliath tormented the Israelites, they ran away from their enemy but when David came to the battle as a young man, he confronted the enemy and won not just the battle in the name of the Lord but also restored people’s confidence in their God. 4. Be merciful. In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” To receive this Covenant of everlasting mercy, do show mercy to people around you.
Mercy set aside protocol and overrules judgement. Saul did not receive God’s mercies, he was rejected as king. What did Saul do that either David or his son Solomon did not do? The account and life of David is just about how mercies of God prevail over situations of life. You need to ask and work for God’s mercy. Do you know that when you show mercy to others you are actually fasting? See Isaiah 58:7. The mercies of God will set upon you this day in the name of Jesus Christ (Amen).
Word Affirmation: “Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward - Isaiah 58:8 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
