AND THEY REMEMBER HIS WORDS (2)

TOPIC: AND THEY REMEMBER HIS WORDS (2)
TEXT: LUKE 24:1-12

After the death of Jesus, the women in His circle were busy preparing how to care of Jesus’ body; they had prepared spices to decorate His body but had to wait till the early hours of Sunday to go to the sepulchre. On getting there, they found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. It took the Angel of God to remind them of all the words of Christ and what had actually happened. The Word of God cannot be held by the grave, the Word carries life and he is alive forever more. Those women were busy looking for the body of Jesus, went to His graveyard thinking of finding His body, forgetting it was the Word that became flesh (body), the grave could no more hold Him. Many believers profess to love Jesus but have His word not in their hearts, there is need for genuine believers who want to prosper in the world and the world to come, to go back to the study of the Word and act the Word. What makes us to be believers is our belief in the Word of God, which is the Person of God.

Many Christians today share the same attitudes with the first disciples, they do not understand the Word of God, and have placed activities above His Word. Many Christians today will not forget their daily activities but hardly can they quote a single scripture. This is sad. None of Jesus’ disciples could discern the event of the time, because Jesus had been crucified, they did not know what to do. What is the first thing you do when challenges confront you? What is your reaction to situation? Your reaction to situation shows where your heart lies, do you run to the Word of God to find out what you are actually going through or do you at any time remember God’s Word after you might have acted foolish?

It is the one that get himself familiar with the Word of God that remembers His word when unexpected situation arises. The disciples completely forgot the Word of God; it took the Angel of God to remind them. They never understood everything that Jesus did was in fulfilment of the Word of God. In Hebrews 10:7, He said, “I come in the volume of Book written of Me”. He came to the world to fulfil the Word. He is the Word Himself, John the Beloved wrote, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” – John 1:1. As Christ came to fulfill the Word, likewise you come to fulfill same.

At this time, the disciples were in total disarray, perplexed and dominated by fear, when the Angel of God even reminded them of the fulfilment of prophecy by the resurrection of Jesus, Peter and the rest did not believe. The Bible says, “And their (the Angels) words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not”. For the Word of God to prosper you, you must take the word as a person, set aside time to know Him. Many people are suffering today not because they do not know how to pray but because they do not know the Word. The Battle of this world can only be handled by the Word. Go back to the Bible, which is the written Word of God. Are you waiting till when an Angel appear to you and give instruction before you act on the Word of God? If you do not believe in the One written, even when you see an Angel you will never recognized. It will be like an idle tale to you too. Have a change of attitudes to the Word of God. What is it that you value most? I urge you to place high premium on God’s Word, then thou shall prosper and above all be in good health.

Word Affirmation: “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." - Psalm 62:7 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“The battle of the World can only be handled by the Word."
