COOK YOUR FUTURE MEALS TODAY

A Yoruba Adages say, “Iyan ogun a ma jo ni l’owo”, meaning, the fingers can still feel the heat of a 20-year old pounded yam. Somebody also says, “A man who plants all manner of fruits and vegetables cannot experience hunger”. The focus of today’s topic is for a man or woman who desires to have a tomorrow to plant what s/he need tomorrow today. The implication of that Adages is one will surely feel the action he takes today tomorrow. One who plants what he want to eat now today cannot compare himself with somebody who planted his fruitful trees ten years ago.

The problem with majority of the people is their failures to plant in season, and out of season they are looking for what to eat. It is good that we are reading the book of Lamentations today and in verse 27, it says, “It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.” The word, “bear” in that verse of the Scripture means, stand, tolerate, stomach, accept, swallow, allow, or abide. Therefore, stand your ground against person(s), power(s) or things that want to deray your plans for the future, tolerate insult sometimes in order to have and get the best for the future, stomach your pride, ego deflate one’s instrument of movement, accept responsibilities early enough, even if it is not your responsibility and you are living under a harsh condition, accept it. The authority in charge is only building you for your tomorrow. Like I said earlier, swallow your pride, humble yourself so that God can lift you in due time. Allow whatever season you are in to finish it works and finally, in all situations and for future harvest abide with the truth always.

Beloved, therefore, do not get into the future before you realize there is nothing to eat. Do the needful today and if you are still in your youth, you are under obligation to put yourself under pressure so that you become your best. Nobody enter into his future unprepared and expect to be the greatest. Do not just hope in God, do something that your hope can stand. The reason why Jeremiah had hope in verse 21 was because he’d already taking responsibilities in his youth, therefore, he recalled to mind and realized there was hope. Study today to be approved tomorrow, learn today to earn tomorrow, get knowledge now to lead and have an edge tomorrow. In life, God is never our problem, ignorance and irresponsibility is. Therefore, faith in God does not rule out your responsibilities in life. Be wise and do the needful now! Remember the topic says, “Cook Your Future Meals Today” but do not say, cook it today and eat it immediately. Cook it now and eat it later, that’s the message.

Word Affirmation: “The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace." - Psalm 29:11 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
