WHO IS MY LIFE POINTING TO?
Each and everyone was created by God, we are created in His only image and in His likeness. Our lives must point people to God, our lives supposed to go in the direction of God since we are made in His own image. God always visit Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He always comes to them to fellowship with them but at some point man fell. But God did not stop at that, He made an escape route He gave us Jesus Christ, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus Christ died for us, so God gave us Christ, so in everything that we do, our lives need to point to God. My life needs to point out to God through Christ. So you and I need to live a life of Christ. John was made, created for the purpose of making the Way of the Lord straight, he preached in villages, in Jerusalem, yet he still pointed people to Christ. He preached to show Christ, he pointed many people to Christ, he said, there is One who comes after me more powerful than I. I am not worthy to bend down and untie his sandal straps. At this time, Jesus yet to be made known.
John was the greatest among the prophets yet he pointed people to Christ. So who are you pointing to? Who am I pointing people around me to? Is it to myself or to Christ? In our days, people who are full of the Holy Spirit but are not free, yet still point their achievements and impacts to self. We have everything from God yet share the glory. Our glory, that of our ministry, families must point people to Christ. We need to change our behaviors, we need to change our ways. Do you confess Jesus to be the son of God; He came to this world to suffer and died. John did, he confess Jesus even in the face of opposition, of his reputation and ministry.
John the Baptist lived his life to project Jesus, even towards the ends of his life, he sent his disciples to still confirm the person of Jesus. He prepared the way for the Lord. How many people are you preparing your life for? People are now living their lives for themselves, no longer living for others. They are becoming tired, expecting those they helped to be the ones that will help back or to show gratitude or to show love, they have forgotten that it is God that gives rewards. Do not expect appreciation as long as you know that you are doing it for God, you are doing it for Christ you don't need to expect any return, wait for your God. I'm holding you this day that you look beyond self, your ministry and organization and let all that you do point people to Christ. Let the glory of, of Christ shine upon you; that people will see you they will see your Father.
It is dangerous to point your ministry to yourself, to think about what you can gain or manipulate people. John did not do likewise; you do not have the permission as well to act contrary. Ensure you point people to God the Father through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by the help of the Holy Spirit.
Word Affirmation: “ But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions." - Obadiah 1:17 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
“ Do not expect appreciation as long as you know that you are doing it for God. "
