Reconciled in Christ

Reconciled in Christ

At one point in life, we were all strangers to God, not because He rejected us, but because our hearts and minds were far from Him. Colossians 1:21 begins with a clear description: we were alienated, enemies in our minds because of our evil behaviour. That means separation from God didn’t start on the outside, but inside our thoughts and choices. Sin blinds us and distances us from the One who created us. Yet, this same God did not wait for us to make the first move. Instead, He acted first. He sent Christ to die for us, to bridge the gap and bring us close again. Reconciliation is the heart of the gospel, God making peace with us through Jesus Christ.

This peace didn’t come cheap. The Bible says we were reconciled “by the body of his flesh through death.” That’s powerful. Jesus took on a real body, felt real pain, and died a real death, so that our relationship with God could be restored. And what’s His goal for us? To present us holy, blameless, and above reproach in His sight. This means God doesn’t just forgive you and leave you as you are. He makes you clean and acceptable to Himself. The cross isn’t just about escaping punishment; it’s about entering a relationship of peace, joy, and holiness. No matter what you've done, if you are in Christ, God no longer sees you through the lens of guilt, but through the lens of grace.

However, Paul gives a reminder, continue in the faith, grounded and firm. This doesn’t mean we work to earn our salvation, but we must not drift away from the hope of the gospel. Stay anchored in Christ. Don’t trade the truth of reconciliation for lies, fear, or doubt. Let the peace you have with God shape how you live each day. Let it change how you think, how you speak, and how you treat others. You are not an outsider anymore, you are reconciled. Walk like someone who is known, loved, and accepted by the King of Heaven. This peace is permanent. Jesus didn’t come to visit your life; He came to restore it completely.

Word Affirmation: (Isaiah 43:1, KJV) "Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine." (KJV) (Don't just say it, mean it!)

Personalise: I am no longer far away. God has called me His own, I belong to Him forever.

“Reconciliation with God doesn’t begin with us reaching up, it began with Jesus reaching down.”
