Nailed to the Cross

Nailed to the Cross
Colossians 2:13-14 reveals one of the most liberating truths in Scripture: “And you, being dead in your sins… hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us… and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” This is a powerful image, every charge against you, every record of guilt, every spiritual debt you owed was nailed to the cross with Christ. Your sin wasn’t just covered; it was cancelled. This is not poetic exaggeration. It is the legal and spiritual reality of your salvation.
Before Christ, we were spiritually dead, disconnected from God, living under condemnation. But God made us alive by forgiving our sins. He didn’t ignore them; He took full account of them, and then nailed them to the cross. That "handwriting of ordinances" refers to a list of charges, like a legal record of all you’ve done wrong. Under God’s law, it condemned us. But when Jesus died, He took that entire record, bore the punishment, and erased the charges with His blood. If God has removed your guilt, why should you carry it another day? You are not defined by your failures but by His forgiveness.
This truth is your freedom. The cross doesn’t just deal with your past, it empowers your present and secures your future. You don’t need to work to earn forgiveness; it’s already done. You don’t need to fear rejection from God; your record is clean. Live in that freedom. When the enemy reminds you of your past, point to the cross. When shame whispers lies, declare, “That was nailed to the cross.” You are not under condemnation, you are under grace. Walk boldly in the joy of the forgiven. Christ paid it all. You owe nothing, but you can give Him everything in gratitude.
Word Affirmation: (Psalm 103:12, KJV) "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." (KJV) (Don't just say it, mean it!)
Personalise: My past is forgiven, my record is clean, and my life is redeemed by the cross of Christ.
“The record of your sins was not hidden, it was nailed up for all to see, then erased forever by Christ’s blood.”
