Invite Him to Stay a Little Longer
Invite Him to Stay a Little Longer
There are moments when we sense God’s presence so deeply, and our hearts long for more. That’s exactly what the two disciples on the road to Emmaus felt. After their conversation with Jesus - still not knowing it was Him - they didn’t want it to end. Something about His words stirred their hearts, so they invited Him to stay a little longer. That simple invitation changed everything. When He sat with them and broke bread, their eyes were opened. They recognised Jesus, and their sorrow turned into joy.
Jesus never forces His way in. He walks beside us, speaks with us, but waits for us to invite Him in. When we ask Him to stay, He does. He brings peace, light, and clarity to every part of our lives. That’s the beauty of relationship - Jesus responds to our desire for more of Him. If you’ve been sensing something stirring in your spirit or a hunger for deeper connection, don’t ignore it. Say what the disciples said: “Stay with me, Lord.” It’s in those extra moments with Him that our eyes open and our hearts are truly changed.
You don’t need a perfect prayer. Just ask Him to stay - with you, in your home, in your thoughts, in your day. The more time you spend with Jesus, the more your heart comes alive. Let Him in fully, not just as a visitor, but as the One who truly belongs.
Word Affirmation: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3) (KJV) (Don't just say it, mean it!)
"One heartfelt invitation can turn a conversation into a life-changing encounter."
