WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE EVERYTHING

A man of faith says, “I can” while the man without faith says, “I can’t.” Do you know who are some of the “I can’t” men in the Bible? Do you know the names of some of the famous men who said it could not be done? How many of these names do you recognize? They are all in the Bible. They were important men and respected by their peers. Here are their names: Shammua, Shaphat, Gaddiel, Igal, Paiti, Gaddi, Ammiel, Sethur, Nahbi, Geuel. Some of you know who these are. Most of you do not because they are all“I can’t” men. These were ten of the twelve spies in Numbers 13 selected by their peers to spy out the Promised Land when the Israelites were on the verge of entering it. They came back and said, “We can’t take it because the giants in the land are too great for us. We were grasshoppers in their sight, and so we are in our own sight”. Of those twelve spies who came back we remember only two, the two who said; “We can take the land.” We know their names. Joshua and Caleb were men of faith who said, “We can take it, and we will take it with God’s help.” But the majority report of the spies prevailed. Because the ten “I cants” persuaded the Israelites, they wandered for forty years in the wilderness, being punished for their lack of faith. Caleb and Joshua were the only ones of the whole group who realized that one man and God make a majority.

Wisdom, prudence, and good judgment are all needed for any good undertaking; but the danger is to confuse wisdom, prudence, and good judgment with what is simply a lack of faith. If Christians are going to do the will of the Lord, those times will come in their lives when they will have to do that which appears foolish to those without faith. As men would see the situation, it was pure folly for Gideon, with only three hundred men, to go against that huge Midianite army. The Bible says that army was like a multitude of locusts. But Gideon was a man of faith. He knew he was doing that which God had instructed. And through that faith he claimed the victory.

It was sheer folly for David, an inexperienced fighter and a shepherd boy, to engage in mortal combat with Goliath, the giant of the Philistines. This nine-foot giant walked out to meet him, clothed from head to foot in the best armor that the world had at that time. But David, the shepherd boy, was armed only with a sling- shot and five smooth stones. David had something in his heart, though, that Goliath did not have. He had faith in God. Because he believed God was his helper, he walked out believing he was called upon to fight this antagonist of God’s people. He made up his mind to overcome this giant, and with God’s help he accomplished the impossible. Caleb, Joshua, David and Gideon got all what they wanted through faith God. By Faith, men of old obtain good reports. Do you want to get things great and small? Just have absolute faith in the Lord, cheaply you will have them. For without faith, it is impossible to please the Lord. Faith can shake the hands of the Lord and bring all you need.

Word Affirmation: “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in." - Psalm 24:7 (Don't just say it, mean it!)

“ If Christians are going to do the will of the Lord, those times will come in their lives when they will have to do that which appears foolish to those without faith. "
