THE DAY OF THE LORD

The events around us are pointing to the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The war in Europe, tension in the Middle East, hunger in Africa and all other criminal-minded across the globe are pointers to the arrival of Christ as a Judge of all. The Day of the Lord is coming as a thief in the night, it will come suddenly. Are you prepared? Are you on guard? You do not need revelation or soothsayer to tell you Christ is coming. If you are living your life accordingly, you wouldn’t have any fear whether Christ is coming today or tomorrow.

How does the Day of the Lord, which comes before Christ's second coming by a number of years, relate to Christ's coming for His church? The Lord's Day will arrive swiftly and unexpectedly. What's the purpose? The key is that, while the church's translation signifies the end of the day of graces, it also ushers in the Day of the Lord. In other words, the same event appears to function as both the end of one day and the start of another. If that is true, it gives us some very positive and definite teaching along the line that the church will be taken out of the world before the day of trial and trouble overtakes the world.

The judgment will take place at a time when everyone is looking forward to safety and serenity, the exact opposite of when disaster is expected. There will be some indications of peace at the time the Day of the Lord begins. A phony foundation for peace will apparently exist given the state of the globe at the start of the Day of the Lord. A reinforced "United Nations" or global organization may be able to achieve this. But the revealed scenario at the second coming is completely different from this state of peace. At Armageddon, all of the world's armies will be gathered in battle formation. Then, there will be a massive global armed conflict. However, they will be uttering the phrase "Peace and safety" at the start of the Day of the Lord. A sudden destruction occurs at that precise moment. The Greek New Testament emphasizes the term abrupt. There won't be any warning or indicators leading up to that occurrence. There won't be any way to get away. The instance used as an example is when a pregnant lady experiences an unexpected attack of labor. It will be unavoidable, divine judgment of God upon people who are "in darkness."

We all need to hope for the arrival of our Lord, one He will come and above all, whether He comes today, tomorrow or at anytime, do prepare yourself and be ready.

Word Affirmation: “ The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live forever." - Psalms 22:26 (Don't just say it, mean it!)
